Sure, how much do you want to spend?
Cause it's going to cost a lot. It can be done.
You'll need:
Wheel with audio controls
Wire harness
Head unit with proper steering wheel controls.
Cluster gauge
And the right ecu to make it all run right.

You'll have better luck if you can find a BRZ/86 that's been in a crash. The pull out everything you'll need.

Honestly you'll be better off selling your old car, and getting the newer version car with audio controls. But that's my two cents.

Unless I totally miss read your question, and you have an aftermarket head unit and want to be able to use steering wheel controls, then yes you'll need the adapter to make it work.

Does the idatalink Maestro RR not work for what you are trying to accomplish?

Do a Google search for idatalink Maestro RR. On their website you can select the model of your vehicle and the head unit that you plan to use and it will indicate if it is compatible. There are a number of threads on this forum regarding installations using the Maestro RR.

i’m sorry to hi-jack the thread but i’m wondering if anyone here can help me hook up my steering wheel controls to my head unit.

i have a 2013 brz and a 2019 steering wheel/clockspring.

one of the harness that connects to the clockspring from the 2013 car has fewer wires than a 2019 and i’m guessing those missing wires are for the steering wheel controls (and i believe some are for the cluster). anyone know where each of those wires are supposed to be connected to specifically?

thanks in advance for any help
