http://blog.chron.com/thehighwayman/...nspection-tag/

We're becoming a one sticker state.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I hope it is a sticker that the owner is allowed to place on the windshield and not some grease monkey who puts it halfway between the top and bottom of the windshield because they don't feel like straightening their arm out to get it on the bottom edge.

I still don't understand this whole sticker in the windshield thing. Especially with the road conditions. My wife has already replaced the windshield on her car and we've been here a grand total of 2 months. Thankfully the sticker was salvaged, but I imagine that is mostly because it wasn't baked on for an entire year yet.

Now if we can just get them to use the laser scanners like in Back to the Future, we won't need plates or stickers at all.

I know, its a plate, but that movie is older than most members of this board. Old farts weren't super creative in the '80s.

I wish they would just put the stickers on the license plates like they do in Cali....I'm a Texas native and am used to the stickers on the windshield, but with the 86, that like 10% of the view being taken up...

Long time ago they were on the license plate in Texas. Then sometime in the 1990s it went to windshield.

I think the reasoning behind the change was that people where stealing plates to evade inspections and registrations.

the law enforcement officer does not have all the information. having a sticker is a quick way of visually knowing, for the owner and officer..

fwiw some windshields its really hard to put a sticker on the dash/windshield angle aren't friendly to install inspection stickers..

if you had replaced windshields , there are DPS stations that handle this situation (you dont have to get another inspection).. It's against the rules to remove and reuse a sticker, hence why all inspectors MUST install it..

the sun is what deteriorates the sticker.. it flakes off, and trust me all of the inspectors I've seen welcome no more stickers next year.. it will save us a ton of time, it really is a huge waste of money when you consider the logistics behind each sticker..
