I just got mine in the mail today. Not that it's a big deal, but I didn't realize the clear JDM lenses have that little hump sticking out the side compared to the stock ambers being flat. Anyone know the reason for this?

Just speculation, but the way the pop-out part is cut, it refracts light. Since the sidemarkers are also turn signals on the JDM model (per ayau's information) I assume that this refraction (causing the lens itself to glow) allows the light to be seen from all angles when signaling. Our sidemarkes are only designed to provide visibility of the car and show direction of travel when viewed from the side.

Aha! Excellent info. I actually didn't realize ours were not turn signals until just now. Lame.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the write-up. Just swapped mine out today and it looks so much nicer now.

I went to Japanparts.com. Did you just get the lenses or the set to include bulds and socket? I have the limited BRZ and wondering if I only need the lenses. Thanks.

Success! Thanks for the write up, definitely helped. I used a small flathead screwdriver to unclip the side marker. Seemed to work well.

The best spot to pry is between the gray housing on the back of the marker and the car. Doing that will release one clip, making the other two easier. If you look at the OP's picture, pry in the gap to the left of the gray plastic.

I found that its easiest to grab the frnder with one handwhile pushing on the bottom clip with a flat head screwdriver and that allows you to pull the bottom of the light out. Either put something behind of the marker to prevent it from popping back in or hold it with your hand. Then take the flat head while laying on your back, my head was pointed towards the rear of the vehicle, use the new marker for reference to how you need to push on the metal piece to pop the top out and wedge the flat head straight up through the metal clip on the frnder to pop the top out and that will release the third clip simultaneously. Twist out the bulb plug, swap out your bulbs and bend the mounting brackets back into place if necessary and pop the new markers back in bottom first was easier for me.

Anyone else havin problems inserting the new side markers? Mine doesn't seem to be as snug as it should be. Possibly one of the clips aren't in all the way but I don't see how to make it sit properly
