Much cooler temps on race day and primarily a track with low to medium speed corners, just couldn't get them in the window. Binnotto said on their simulations it would struggle for 10 or so laps then they would be quicker than the medium for the rest of the stint. Ferrari saw the Alpine's struggle with them so I don't know why they still stuck with it.
