Spike's Haru story reminds me of one of our goldens. We adopted two golden rescues, Amber and Bella, from Taiwan right around New Year's 2010. We only had them a couple weeks and we decided to take everyone to the dog show at the convention center. The car ride was fine, they actually loved the car. The event was on the lower level of the convention center and we had to go down a grand staircase to enter. It wasn't a problem until we had to leave. We remembered that Bella had an issue with going up steps. She would only go up if she had a clear shot to the top. So here we are after about 20 minutes of trying, a member of staff asked if they could help. We explained the situation and they cleared the entire stairs so she could get to the top. We were a bit embarrassed but they assured us that was one of the easiest accommodations they had to make all day.

Spike, you'll figure out something that works. I think you mentioned anxiety just being in the car even before it moves. Put some of Haru's favorite things in the car - a trail of treats leading to a toy or blanket. You can also safely give dogs Benadryl 1mg per pound.

Or just wait for a cold snap and catch one as it falls out of a tree.

A few years back the state of Florida made it legal to kill green iguanas. They all turned brown when they heard the news.

Doesn't look like much of a "competition"!
Although I could certainly go for the gold in competitive napping.

Dude has a past I really don’t know about. He was just walking around with this knife in his mouth.

This guy was in the backyard,, tried to run it off,, he hissed and swished his tail at me. He passed from blunt force trauma. Dogs run off the little ones.
