In the US, your car would show up on the government recall site (listed here several times, but it comes up pretty easy on Google) if impacted even if Subaru as "parsing" out the service.

This impacts only one Toyota model (the 86) but multiple Subaru models so it is possible Subaru is "pacing" the official notification but if you are impacted you should show up on both sites (NHTSA and Subaru).
of the vehicles it does effect, is there many having failures?

Got my letter today. New valve springs for me. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get my car back.

I think the last thing I saw it was less than 1/10 of one percent but I could be wrong about that.

Just got the call mine is ready. It took two and half business days. The estimate is 12 "mechanic hours".

Also, at least for Toyota, the dealership is authorized to give you a rental/loaner (hence my F150 story in Random Thoughts)

I've already said this, but I looked at it as getting a whole bunch of zero mile parts on my 140K Mile car for free, including all new fluids, etc. Also got them to do the plugs for the price of parts. My engine now has a 12month, 12,000 mile warranty on the repair so I figure I'm covered if there are issues. All for under $100 and I got a 3 day car rental out of it.

The dealership where I had mine done has their most senior tech assigned to the task and is doing all of them, or at least that's the story I got. I do know he did at least one car before mine, and is scheduled to do two next week.

I gave it to the undisputed el presidente to give it to someone who needs it.

Well I just got my car back and so far so good. The tech didn't give me the details I was looking for. I assume because it was his 1 first one. Just mentioned that he was able to skip a lot of steps due to my car being manual vs auto, but didn't specify.

Said once the engine was removed, it was as simple as flipping from one side to the other to do the springs. Says he took his time with it and that it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be, but he's not looking forward to doing more.

Other than that, he wouldn't tell me more. New coolant, new oil.

Car seems to run a little stronger than I remember. So far no leaks, but time will tell.

Anyone else getting their spark plugs replaced for just parts or even just a few extra in labor so far aside from the user two posts above?

Also what is the general consensus when bringing the car in for the recall like at the dealerships? Do they want to do recalls, do they not?
