Perhaps Subaru had no say in it & Toyota simply shut the door on the D4S idea ? I'm no expert but 4-6% sounds bloody awful :/

Or they just wanted to build their own, I'm not sure. I recall that they made an announcement before the DIT WRX came out saying that they were using their own DI technology and the patent was also posted on forums.

A few nasty intake valve pics are now showing up on nasioc as well. One guy has already done walnut shell blasting like they do on intake valve deposit prone BMW's and Audi's.

"Hello, Toyota? This is Fuji Heavy. Can we discuss using your D4S technology again, please?"

Back on topic. Nice job Steve!

So is OEM oil but at earlier intervals okay with E85? Am I understanding this correctly?

It might be. A lot depends on the tune and your driving conditions and a used oil analysis is a good way to find out.

3rd consecutive UOA for TGMO 0W20 SN GF5 - 7047kms on oil E85 use only ! I'm stoked & satisfied the oil can easily go the distance, new oil/oil filter/air filter installed (all genuine parts) after this analysis was done so a further 3 more UOA to come to prove the point. Enjoy !

ps: I dumped & inspected the oil myself (have kept a small sample - have the Fumoto valve so was a cinch) & even waited for it to cool down - it looks great, has a dark golden colour & smells like oil should - awesome !

This is getting boring. Could you go drive flat out at a track to see if wear and fuel dilution increases? Thanks.

I take that as a big compliment - thank you

ps: I will be installing the OEM oil warmer/cooler exactly as per factory setup off the FXT/WRX just as in @CARNZ thread - this should have a positive impact on the oil longevity.

Motul oil

What are yalls thoughts on the motul 8100 eco lite 0w 20? As i have been using this oil since i got the car would it be safe for me to keep using it or should i change? And if i keep using it will i need to change the intervals or no? Car has stock internals just exhaust, intake, pulleys

With gasoline, it is a great oil. With E85, it's probably all right too. But the reason I switched from Motul when I went to E85 is because (at the time) Motul was API SM rated (SN is newest). SN is supposedly E85 compatible, while SM might/might not be. I just went on Motul's website and it does say it is SN but when you go to the technical specs it says SM. I don't know which one is right. I haven't used Motul in some time but when I did they were definitely still SM rated.

They might have re-formulated the oil to meet the SN specs? I don't know, best to check the bottles. I'd stick with an SN oil for E85 but also change out more frequently, just to be on the safe side.

E85 consumes detergents and drastically reduces the oil change interval so its important to look at the tbn and a bunch of other stuff im not well versed in.

the following is internet hearsay;

Ive heard motul 300v doesnt deal with the acid well but 8100 xlite does.

Trd by motul is suposedly amazing in general but only has a tbn of around 7(pretty low add pack, but there are other factors that make oil good/bad for e85 im still a noob about)

Amsoil dominator and redline seem to work well but im pretty sure they are low on moly.

Mobile1s detergents are consumed quickly so mobile recomends mobile turbo diesel instead.

I have a gm fleet vehicle that has to have its oil changed every 2500 miles when its on e85 as per contract!

Local gtr guys tell me they use a similar oil change interval and have posted alot of uoa's.

Im going to try rotella turbo diesel oil on e85 and do a blackstone uoa after 2000miles and ill post it to this thread.

Anyone else have a uoa on e85?

Very interesting question - especially as I'll be adding a flexfuel kit in January!!

I wonder what the tuners have to say? (Went through the thread looking for someone like @CSGMike or @DeliciousTuning but didn't see their advice... I did get bored half way through so apologies if you guys have already answered)!

Everyone likes there own brand of oil

If you NA and not actually racing
and you tune is not running overly rich you should not have oil dilution issues

running E85
Pick a known brand of oil
Make sure is SN or GF5 rated this ensures its ethanol E85 compatable
Or make sure the manufacturer specificly states its E85 compatble

Full synthetic ( not synthetic blend)

cold climate 0W20
warmer climates 0W30 or 5W30

UOA for TGMO 0W20 SN-GF5

Following on from previous UOA & VOA done, here is another & most likely the last as it is getting quite boring - like nothing has really changed.

UOA for TGMO 0W20 SN/GF5 - 5175kms on oil, E85 use only.

The elevated Copper count I would say is because of the newly installed OEM oil cooler which got completed 3 weeks earlier before this sample was taken.

@bluesubie - the elevated Silicon levels are starting to annoy me as new air filters are have no resolve. Would you say this is an acceptable count for Silicone or should I look to dumping the OEM filter & use something else like K&N ? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers

Why not change the filter anyway?
Mine cost me around $53, so it's not a huge expense and their washable/re-usable.

Not cos of cost, Ive read that aftermarket filters like a K&N wouldn't filter as well as a good paper filter & that's why you get more airflow. Having said that I hate the design of the stock air box as it's difficult to get the air filter in the right spot & 100% located & if you don't you risk damaging the ends & possibly not get a proper seal thus allowing sh1t to flow through
