Regarding the rear shock adjuster, do you have to hold the hold piece steady while you turn the silver seat CCW? Is there a torque spec for re-assembly? Funny that the instructions make no mention of this step... Thanks!

I've had mine for several months, several thousand miles, and many track days and am very happy with them on and off the track. I would buy them again.

^ that, awesome dampers and well worth the money for occasional track and AX use. I'm having them rebuilt now with 500lb rear springs and revalving. Would buy again.

@dp1 are you having them services through Ohlins? Do you mind me asking how much rebuilding runs around? Cheers.

I've been on the Ohlins R&T for about 8000 miles which includes maybe 10-12 track days. They are a great balance for street and track use and very solid in terms of build quality and reliability.
My only criticism would be the spring rate; I've switch over to 350/425 F/R and the car rotates much better. It also shows a better distribution of temps on a tire pyrometer. If I want to go stiffer in the rear (as @dp1 is doing), I'd send them in for a revalve. When I called Ohlins about this, they said it would be $125/corner with a one to two day turnaround. |

Ohlins Road & Track for FRS/BRZ suspension install/review thread
Quote:
Yes, they are being rebuilt by Ohlins and they were kind to order correct 500lb springs for me from a well known spring manufacturer and to revalve since the difference in spring rate is more than 20-30% from stock. Can't comment on the price, give them a call, great customer service. Note that full rebuild price will be higher than revalve only price. |

I am sorry but I can't disclose the full rebuild price. I am getting a full rebuild that includes revalving so I don't know how much for revalving only, but I had seen the same quote before for revalving per corner as mentioned above. |

one question. does it feel just as comfortable as they were with the 343lb springs, or is it now at that uncomfortable/track smooth surface only setting? i would assume with proper valving, it would still be very comfortable.

BTW, I ended up ordering 380f/425r spring rates. These are not progressive springs, so, depending on the adjustment, I suspect that they will work a little better for either low or high speed bumps. They are quite comfortable on the street with stock 345lb f/r springs and I expect that they will remain with the slightly stiffer rates. I'll post impressions in late March when they're back on the car and after Apr/May track days. I will probably do some AX from April on.

On the street, the higher spring rate (350F/425R) is noticeable when going over bumps and and ruts in the road. But it's not that much stiffer where I'd call it uncomfortable (at least for my tolerance). I don't daily drive my car but I do drive to the track which is 2-3 hours and it's not too bad.

i think the Ohlins set up is more comfortable than stock, so I can`t imagine the stiffer setting all of a sudden becoming so uncomfortable. maybe if i make it up to Laguna Seca I can hitch a ride in your car @kster1 ?

@mokinbird87 why are you in need of a stiffer setup? Just because one prefers stiffer doesn't mean it works for others.
The tires you will run makes a bigger difference for "normal" driving, to be honest. If I gave someone rides with my previous setup (street - Toyo T1 Sport / track - Falken RT615K) vs now (street - Falken FK453 / track - Hanhook RS3), one would swear I changed my suspension setup. Sidewall stiffness makes a huge difference in ride quality. -alex |
