IDK about last winter, I seemed to do OK on summers. That said, this winter might be a beast, Baltimore's not that hilly, but PA's a different story. How much are a set of good winters anyway?

If you have a set of wheels just the cost of the tires, you want a thin of a tire as possible so they shouldnt cost a lot of money

If anyone is interested, I'm actually trying to get rid of the winter tires/wheels that I picked up last year. They only have one winter on them, so only about 2-3000 miles of very light use. I ended up getting a beater Miata for a winter car, so I do not need them any more.
Looking for $500 (spent nearly $1000 on them from TireRack). They are 205/55R-16 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 RFT Run Flats on steel wheels. Wheels do not have TPMS. I can deliver them to any CDC Auto-X event, or meet up somewhere in the Baltimore/DC area (I live in Columbia MD) or Lancaster, PA (visit family up there regularly). PM me if you are interested. |

I'm going to try the new Michelin pilot sport A/S 3 that they just made in this summer. I was going to get winter set, but I'm going to keep my cross fingers crossed for the heavy snow this winter. Unpredictable weather...
The tires' dry/wet grip is proven to be awesome and they claim the snow traction should be fine. I'm assuming it would be similar/better than the A/S plus. I'll be getting them mounted tomorrow, so I'll write a review or something as the weather gets colder. |

My Dunlop WS3D in 205 width with 50 something sidewall in 17" diameter were around $600when I bought them a few winters back. If you got stock brakes, I suggest a Subaru 16" wheel (any Impreza or Forester from the 2000s) as they can be had for CHEAP even considering steelies. A nice 16" winter tire to mount on those will be cheaper than a 17".

WI upbringing ftw. Ready to get these back in the car. Feels all nekkid. As a plus, no side panels = comfy. Negates buying the inner knee pad :P Now to go through about 1000 photos...... Last edited by BoostinIX; 10-11-2013 at 07:29 AM. |

A coworker just told me about a car show he's putting together in Newport News to help raise awareness for Ewing's Sarcoma - his niece is afflicted by it, so car show = donations to help her out. I told him the 86 community is pretty young, but can be generous.
The show is next Saturday (10/19) at Cheeseburger in Paradise (12361 Hornsby Lane, Newport News, VA 23602) from 10am until 3pm. The entry fee for the show is a donation of $10, although you're allowed to donate more if you want. Not sure it costs anything to just show up and browse. There will be raffles, giveaways, and trophies awarded. If anybody wants more info, don't hesitate to PM me. And if this is against the rules, ffffuuuuuuuuuuuu. |
