I have used Boostane at every track day for years (93 octane up to ~98 for safety buffer). It's a really good formula that I've seen no downside on across two different chassis. It may leave some orange deposits, but they are significantly less then other octane boosters. I have yet to see anyone show an actual problem from these deposits, only that they don't like the orange.

Until I can obtain a reasonable supply of E85 and buy a good quality Flexfuel kit, I'll stick with name brand higher octane race fuel for those "special runs"

Is barrel E85 (55 gallon drums) a viable option for special drives?

I don't have a truck to pick it up with, no place to store it and don't think it'll fit in the trunk for my 2-5 day road trips

But I could access 5 gal pails of E85 and pack it with me, or have the AFD Petroleum Distributors bring it in and hold it for me, as they do with their SL99.

I currently have 4 fuel "drops" of SL99/260GTX paid for & waiting for me at strategic spots in BC to draw from:
20 Gals 260GTX at a buddy's in Kamloops
10 Gals SL99 at a buddy's in Rock Creek
20 Gals SL99 at the AFD outlet in Deroche
20 Gals SL99 at the AFD outlet in Winfield/Kelowna

If I lived in Edmonton Alberta, the AFD Dist. there has SL99 available at a pump in bulk for much cheaper than the 5 gal pails !

Yes I know.... it's a sickness.
While they may not be as famous as "The Tail of the Dragon", some of the twisty Secondary highways in the Washington/B.C. area provide many scenic "smiles per mile" (or Kilometer up here in Canada, eh ?)

For simplicity sake, I think it might be best to either:

A- Learn to be happy with the cars current power
or
B-Build the block and bolt on a smaller pulley

Sorry if this is already known information, but can someone point me in the direction of buying a new air filter for the Edelbrock?

I have an older unit with the K&N oiled filter with the sealant around it. It's definitely time to change it; it has done too much. I don't like the color even after cleaning it thoroughly with the K&N cleaner.

Six months ago, I contacted Edelbrock directly after reading that the new units have a revised dry filter. They told me that they had changed the supplier again and were also waiting for the first batches.

I placed an order through Superchargers Online (I have made several orders with them; great guys) in October 2023. Fast forward to now, still no filter and no ETA on its availability. Basically, they refunded my order after nine months. My wife could have had a baby in that time...

I have done a little research. The original K&N filter has the code stamped on the side; it is P/N 33-2706:

It is a filter for early 2000s BMW 2.5 diesel engines and is still sold today, with the sealant nonetheless. I wanted to change to a DRY alternative, not another K&N...

Now, not many companies produce sporty alternatives for this kind of filter, given the "official" application. Passing the classic $15 paper filters, I have found only a couple of brands that actually produce an alternative: Pipercross and Sprint Filter.

I purchased both of them, but none of them fits in the Edelbrock airbox. They are probably okay in the "intended" BMW airbox but not here; one is too long, and the other is too thick.

So, someone with a revised filter, can you please tell me a newer part number, an alternative, anything? Or better a site on which to buy it...
This filter is harder to find than the torque on this car.

I would really love to use a Dry filter now. If it is oiled again, I can go with another K&N, and I don't like the idea of cleaning the K&N of its oil and running it like that... it is not a very good solution IMHO

I purchased the “dry” filter from Summit Racing after receiving and using the oiled filter included with the used Edelbrock kit I purchased.
I was disappointed upon opening the package to find the “dry” filter identical to the oiled filter less the oil. Honestly, after cleaning the oiled filter, to use as a back-up, I concluded that the dry filter was a waste of money. Just clean and re-install the original. Sure it’s not pretty. But who sees it anyway.
FYI, my Edelbrock dry filter part number is 035051-157.

I see, basically it is the same 33-2706 K&N filter minus the oil... well, that's disappointing.

My hope was that they were using another brand and it could be identifiable (like the K&N filter still marked on the side).

I didn’t examine it for branding but do assume it is a K&N filter un-oiled.
