I’ve been getting some hesitation and stumbling only when I tip in the throttle a bit more than normal like trying to take off at a light fast. No other issues. It stumbles and then goes…

I know it must be happening, but I find it astounding that Carvana is selling an 11 year old $25,000 when new car for $20,000 or more.

By the way, the current offer from Carvana on mine (2013, 221,000 miles) is $545. A year ago it was around $5,000 with 205,000 miles on it.

So a quick update for anybody running Gates RPM belts. I’ve been searching for one for a while and after speaking with someone directly at Gates, they’ve discontinued that line. The HD line is still being manufactured but is heavily backordered at the moment.

Anybody else have any belt recommendations? I’ve been running the Continental Elite 060995 and am having a rib sheared off about once a track day. I’m going to try an 060990 which is a bit shorter to see, but what I’m seeing happen is under heavy load the tensioner is pushing the stretched belt up into the pulley above…

you should do solid engine mounts and bushings is what you should do

Sounds like you may need a new tensioner. I'm still using the 995 with my 2.70 pulley and never sheared off any ribs. I replaced the tensioner at 60k miles when the original engine blew. Tons of track days and no problems to report.

Have one on the way already as well, hopefully that helps. Glad to hear you haven’t had any issues

How old are your spark plugs? If you are running a PD supercharger, you will need to replace spark plugs quite often, as superchargers are known to use up spark plugs much faster than NA cars. Some people I know who own FI cars, replace spark plugs once every year, as faulty spark plugs can really make FI cars lose power and run poorly.

Reposting for visibility:

I have an Edelbrock E85 BRZ and recently on the highway, the Shaft Select Lever Pin sheared off and misaligned my shifter H pattern. Here are photos:

https://imgur.com/a/aVicQQL

I drove the car again today and at high rpm's and the entire shifter rotated on me. Freaked me out... It feels closer to normal now but still in an odd spot where you can accidently shift into reverse

Did something internal break? I am concerned because I thought the transmission could handle the SC/E85 combo. I wanted to go to an 8/6 meet & drive tomorrow but now I'm feeling sketched out that I broke something major. Please help!!

Likely only damaged at the shifter base. Only pulling out the console and shifter will tell the story. But if it’s acting as funky as you say I’d not dare drive before resolution.
Good luck! The

2017 BRZ with idle problems (CEL and Traction)

I've got a 2017 BRZ. Put the Edelbrock supercharger in July 2019. Used their tune with no prob.

Tried the Delicious tune. Also no prob.

UNTIL about 2 years ago.

At some point after I reflash the ECU -- could be 10 minutes, could be 2-3 months -- these happen:

* Car won't hold an idle RPM -- goes between 500-1000
* Throttle response is crazy in 1st -- sometimes it's non-responsive, sometimes RPM drops as I add throttle. I need to rev the car to about 2k RPM to start moving
* At some point after that, the CEL and Traction lights come on

Reflashing temporarily solves the problem (with either tune). As does pulling the battery for 10 minutes.

And, the problem will be intermittent... some drives are fine, then 5 minutes later the throttle response is totally out of whack.

My usual mechanic spent a month with the car as was stumped.

ANY suggestions? Thanks.

You were right, new tensioner put on and over the long weekend did 2 days at the track, about 57laps total. No issues with the belt.

I noticed even putting the belt back on, the spring on the new tensioner was much much stronger.
