Blame the 360/PS3 platform. The only reason they cannot implement more vault space is due to the continued support of the game on previous generation consoles. Even the current "increased" vault space cannot be used by them unless they disable the compare feature of weapons.

I believe they have already acknowledged it is one of the major things they will address in upcoming updates.

I bet Destiny 2 will only be for the new gen consoles. I can't see them making it for 360/PS3.

Yeah, I've heard that and I still don't understand it, but I'm not a coder. I just find it hard to believe that you can't store more than 70 things in the bank because limitations on hardware, when you have games like the Elder Scrolls series, Borderlands, and RPGs that allow you to carry, store, and sort hundreds of items. Plus, isn't all of that number crunching and storage server side? The vault doesn't exist on my console or in a local game until it's written into the RAM so I can see what's there. If that's such an issue, put pages into the legacy console versions, and allow them to flip through their items.

It depends on how they implemented it.

I went to school for that (not directly game development related) and I still don't understand why.

I think it may before related to graphical issues. That they can only load a certain number of unique tiles into memory, which IS on the console. there very well could be room for more, but due to the variables of how many other guardians and special vendor visits with potentially each character using a unique piece of gear in every slot, plus world assets etc, etc... They could have hard limited the vault to prevent other issues where assets don't load.

I think someone on reddit already brought up a similar idea, but if the app is easier to develop and change, make a special long-term storage that isn't accessible in game, its app only. This way it doesn't alter anything about the game code but let's us collect to our hearts desire.

This is pretty much the answer I got when I asked someone I know who does code for a living. That they probably have something really shitty in there preventing it from working when other games can successfully load thousands of items.

Deep storage, yeah. I wouldn't have a problem with that, although I imagine there will be a few people complaining because they don't own a smart phone or PC...

Ships, shaders, sparrows, and emblems need to be account-bound and put into a selectable menu though, instead of being put as holdable items.

The problem with this is some of these have to be earned so they would still need to be quantified. I can't just have one Glowhoo shader and equip it up to 3 different characters. The best solution would be to simply give us 1 slot for each item in the vault which would expand into another selectable menu as you've stated. This leaves the amount of shaders/ships/sparrows/emblems a character can carry the same, but prevent them from taking up vault space. There is no reason you need hold more than 9 of those.

Why not though? I could still transfer my existing glowhoo to another character. They're already essentially account based, technically anything you can put in the vault is.

Holy crap i just looked at this thread, so many changes is right. Some of it is just weird, like 34 light weapons with no damage numbers??? Artifact slot that unlocks at level 30? Level 50 cap? These things make zero sense with the way the game currently works.
