Same as here, wheelhaus, feel free to hit me up in game. I'm kind of a carebear, mostly mission in Gallente space cause its decent ISK and low hassle, but have done some small fleet WH ratting in T3 cruisers for that tasty sleeper salvage. Very little PVP, rarely mess with low/null sec.

Very cool. If memory serves Stars was also the first guild to kill heroic Spine of Deathwing and then Deathwing himself at the end of Cataclysm. They also did it out of nowhere...everyone assumed it would be down to Method, Paragon, and Blood Legion, haha.
I figured they'd have to drop some healing for that fast a kill. We never did fights that aggressively underhealed; our raid leader was pretty conservative. But you can definitely tell the difference in how fast he was dropping. Here's our kill: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P01gF1D7MGM"]Security vs Heroic Lich King 25m Part 1 - YouTube[/ame] I'm the Boomkin (Whysperr). Last edited by YMAA; 08-13-2013 at 05:35 PM. |

Cata balance, IMO, was retarded. The classes more or less all turned identical. More importantly, the ability to gear/talent trees to suit different types of healing disappeared, which was absolutely retarded. I had gearsets for burst raid heals, sustained raid heals (~25% less than burst, but infinite mana), and MT heals. Yes, Pallys told me I couldn't MT heal, and I did.... Disc priests were so retardedly good for this fight... Security? I think I may have apped back in the day as a potential transfer... |

8 hours is pretty casual. It sounded like you were in a progression guild or in a guild who competed for server/world 1st. I think the longest I've raided was a couple of hours in Molten Core and Onyxia in vanilla.

In Security we raided 4 times a week, total of 16 hours. I can't remember us coming in on an off night to do progression, but occasionally we'd stay late if we were close to a kill on a new boss.
That said, in a lot of top-tier guilds 5+ days or extra hours a night is not unheard of during hardcore progression when a new tier is released until everything is on farm. However, once everything is on farm those same guilds do 2 or fewer nights a week since they don't need longer than that to clear everything. That's pretty much what we did during ICC when it was on farm - we'd clear the whole instance in a night and the rest of the week was either alt runs, older content (which is how I got my Mimiron's Head ), or sometimes PvP. |
