Thanks to everyone who came out to the first DSG meet! I was REALLY happy to meet you guys and was even happier to help someone with that oil cooler (even though he was received with friendly boo's haha).

"Does Ultra 94 contain ethanol? Does Petro-Canada still offer an ethanol-free gasoline?
Ultra 94 contains ethanol. Due to the fact that various fuel grades are blended at the point of sale, most grades of Petro-Canada fuel may now contain up to 10% ethanol. This represents a change from the previous state, where premium fuel was ethanol-free at Petro-Canada."

Is that true? Seems to be so from thier own website.

Shell V-Power 91:

http://www.shell.ca/en/products-serv...power/faq.html

FAQ #2 "Shell V-Power premium gasoline in Canada does not contain ethanol."
Personally, I do believe that V-Power is still ethanol free although the price being the same as Petro Can 94oct and having noticed a difference running 94 (especially after fill up at CMP) I do believe that living with the cricket for that extra octane is worth it. Just my 0.02$.

The highest grade (octane) gasoline available to us locally is Petro94, formerly Sunoco 94. Both always had some levels of ethanol in their fuels, which in itself isn't really harmful, other than the crickets which is an FR-S specific issue. The ethanol in the fuel also helps to increase the gasoline's octane rating.

Only reason I would run the Shell 91 was not purely due to the lack of ethanol, but moreso that it is not blended at the pump. This also means pure 91 going into your car, as opposed to using a pump that also services 87 octane. How much of the 87 is still in the hose when you select premium at other stations?

Here's also a good article re; the pros and cons of Ethanol.
http://www.greencarreports.com/news/...-pros-and-cons

Typically ethanol content in your gasoline will give you lower mpg's since it is a slower burning fuel and the vehicle is not tuned for high content of Ethanol, making it less efficient.

Running E85 on a tune (i.e. OFT E85) is quite different though since now the tune is optimized for this fuel's parameters, which runs cooler and more efficient (i.e. carbon footprint) than gasoline.

Here's a cost comparison if you are considering running E85 on a tune:

E85 cost is typically 12-14 cents cheaper per litre than Premium fuel (91) or 16 cents less than Petro94, or 4 cents more than regular grade fuel.
Reg: 129.9
Mid: 139.9 +10
Pre: 145.9 +16
E85: 133.9 +4

Although I have noticed pretty much the same consumption using E85, but let's assume a 1L/100km difference, comparing 91 at 9L/100 and E85 at 10L/100.

The price per km is almost exactly the same since although slightly higher consumption, the price/litre is less.

This works out to:

Premium: cost/km = 13.13 cents, cost for 500 kms = $65.66
Ethanol: cost/km = 13.39 cents, cost for 500 kms = $66.95

So pretty much a wash in cost, with better performance and safer on the engine. Downside is there is 1 station in town, so bring jugs.

Your mileage may vary, pun intended.

Lava RB Guy was rocking these GTF2's I believe. looks like a 9 in the front and a 10 in the back. I was wrong about them being 9.5 and 10.5 respectively.

Thanks for the info.

You should design/patent a jerry can holder for the trunk!

On Andre's advice, I got 3 of these 20L gas cans. Three of them fit perfectly in the trunk with leaving room for a toolbox.

Unfortunately, the only gas station that has E85 is still too far from my house, but I will using the cans to bring Petro94 to Calabogie.

I think I use about 30 litres/100km at Calabogie

@brz2013 an I through the tunnel was great.
Did you take the 13 to the 40 Pat? If so, did you like the tunnel under the Dorval Airport? I love that tunnel. They've just shortened it though which kind of sucks.

We should invade another meet in MTL before the season is over and just go through all the tunnels in the city lol

I could always go down in my gt4 which is pretty loud, but sadly for me she started blowing smoke, this weekend, :-(
I was having too much fun going through the rally stages

My fairly-accurate estimate for mileage while on track was 11.7 US mpg, which I believe is about 20 L / 100km. Reminds me of vehicles that I've owned that did worse than that on the street.

Welcome aboard Chris. Was that you I was talking to last week on Hawthorne? Most on here use OFT for their tune. Ecutek , I would try Lachute performance. Next meet is Friday night at Merivale and Hunt Club. 8:30 ish
