I barely speak it and am way better than 99% of the others. Now if you speak German that is a huge advantage. Japanese helps as well.

Im a tech support supervisor/adviser for a commercial refrigeration manufacturer. Dropped out of college and went to an apprenticeship program. Busted my butt in the field and in the books. My advice for a young person would be. Do not have kids young, be smart about your money (I bought my BRZ cash), take smart risks in life, stay close to your family, establish yourself, try to be the best at what you do.

Well, no, as a matter of fact. You have to have your high school just to sweep the floors for $16 an hour.
I always feel odd when they are interviewing hourly guys and tell them no if they didn't finish high school since I never finished high school.

I should have clarified I meant does taking one German class in high school count as being able to speak it. That is comical though, how things have changed.

Lol it is. What you're thinking of typically demands a company of engineers and $1M dollars minimum to tape out a sophisticated wireless system onto a microscopic silicon chip. But when it's a team of 3 grad students we have to MacGuyver it with lab equipment. Our equipment is actually the same that developers use (FPGAs, USRP, GNU Radio) to prototype with before they commit to silicon tape out.

But that's for school. My actual job equipment consists of cell towers we put in orbit for global coverage (better than Verizon/TMO/Sprint/ATT and all commercial cell service providers in the world combined).

Ha, everybody MacGuyvers stuff. I was just pulling your leg. Any engineer worth his/her salt would focus on minimizing NRE. Math and kluged proofs of concept are always a good choice.

That's an amazing photo, BTW.

@p1l0t. I've slipped back into the Shadows, lurking in the darkness...

I dunnl, the end of my semester got nasty and I'm just gettinf hammered with work. I kind of felt like I wasn't conteibuting much here, just sort of fell out of posting.

However, i should be buying wheels and tires in august, two months later than J wanted to, so i'll have a pretty major update on my whip.

Actually, just did an autocross two weeks ago. Was way too hot for the tires, so I decided to just drift my fun runs. Realized a few things about the car, number one that the car will switch back well in tight spaces if you can get back into first.
