Honda considering an S2000 successor - report

According to a recent report, Honda is considering an S2000 successor to battle the Toyota 86 / Scion BRZ / Scion FR-S.
Automotive News says American product planners are lobbying for the model, but their Japanese counterparts don't think it's a priority. That's discouraging, but the company still has several new models in the pipeline.
Following harsh reviews, Honda will unveil an updated Civic this fall. The car's styling will likely carryover, but there should be a significantly improved interior.
Autumn will also usher in the 2013 Accord. Featuring an evolutionary design, the model will have two new Earth Dreams engines: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and a 3.5-liter V6 with 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS).
A year later, Honda will introduce a new Crosstour. It was recently previewed by a concept and will be heavily influenced by the Accord.
On a happier note, a new Pilot and Ridgeline are expected in 2014. They will be based on the Odyssey and feature less blocky styling.
Lastly in 2015, a redesigned Insight and a Fit-based crossover will debut.

Honda always had the right of looks, reliability, and great interiors.

Let's hope they keep their performance traits

Honda has lost it's path. The last drivers car was the S2K and now it's dead along with the RSX-S (Integra).

RIP Honda.

I fully intend to point out to Honda and HPD in < 3 weeks that I would still be driving a Honda if they made this - points to BRZ.

I read somewhere (maybe on this forum) that Honda was working on their own DI engine.

HRMMM....

K20+DI+RWD+2+2= Probably the best car ever made. Make it look like a better CRZ (wider, lower, a bit longer) and there you go.

I did all the work for you Honda, now DO IT!

I can't see them retooling a line to handle a single low volume RWD car...

I think it's more likely to see something more performance oriented out of the CRZ.

.. I'm just guessing.

The BRZ and FRS are indeed popular but really how many are they actually selling compared to Camrys?

The numbers are very limited, and if the dealers had as much availablility to FRS as they do to Camrys there'd be a lot sitting unsold.

Honda did lose their way. When I was younger I looked at the 94 Prelude and S2000 as amazing cars............

PLEEEEEASE HONDA!!!!!! DO IT!

Someone needs to slap them upside the head while they are at it too! WTF!!

Automotive News says American product planners are lobbying for the model, but their Japanese counterparts don't think it's a priority.
