Funny, so did my dad and family. As I wrote some four years ago; My dad bought a new red/white 1957 Chevy wagon. He designed and built a collapsible roof top mounted sleeper for this car. It had four vacuum cylinders, (one for each corner) that when hocked up to the carb would raise it up four feet. In 1958 we went on a month long adventure from Ontario to California to visit relatives and see the sights like Disneyland. We also went to Watkins Glen for the F1 races. (The photo of the car with the sleeper up was taken in Watkins Glen state park camp grounds.)

Thanks, my dad was quite the inventor/innovator. I'll share more stories later.
However, if you look at this photo you can see the 6 meter Ham radio "Halo" antenna he made himself.
Also note the rocks in front of the tires. The first night we spent crossing the Rockies it went well below zero. This car had been a left over built in late 1956 and not sold for nearly a year. Little did my father know that after sitting through Canadian winters and then crossing the US desert in August that enough water condensation would form to burst a brake line. My dad drove down the west side of the Rockies with no brakes and only "L" of the powerglide tranny and the hand brake. He did have to make use of a couple of truck runoffs to the delight of us kids. My mother, not so much!

@NoHaveMSG Check this out, response from the vendor finally after I inquired about an update:

"They did respond, but was trying to get a little more out of them. They said the front pipe you got will work without an issue and that is how it's suppose to be. They said there won't be an issue if you installed it. But I responded with would they replace it for you and nothing from there."

I'd just see if the guy is willing to give you your money back if you returned it and maybe go with something else. If not, I'd try swapping and see if it is any better. Who knows how long it will be good for but that is a fatigue point.

Apparently someone trolled the new MGM Sphere and if you go to google maps you can drop the little guy in it and see the inside. DO NOT DO THIS. It is a dude in his house butt ass naked. Wang out and all.

Yeah. If the manufacturer states that "it will work without issue" and "that's how it is supposed to be" then it is unlikely that a replacement would be any better. Unless they actually put some extra care and attention to detail in when making the welds. Speaking of welds I realize I still owe you photos of them.

As far as other test pipes, my options are slim to none.

I inquired about a refund, but if I'm going to be on the hook for return shipping and restocking fee then fuck it.

DANG, Clipdat, you and ol @NoHaveMSG need to get over it before you give each other an ulcer -

That piece of exhaust pipe will last longer than the rest of the car. Just slap it on there. Hell, it ain't a pressure pipe on a steam boiler or a stress pipe holding up a bridge -

If you wanted to see "ugly welds" you ought to have seen some of my arc welding back in the day, welding galvanized water pipes into a cast iron exhaust manifold to make "headers". Yep, done with an arc welder with one speed (HOT) and one sized rod (LARGE).

Now, don't you two feel better about that piece of pipe?
