The work----love it
The customer can make it a frustrating job. All cars can be fixed..but fixing the owner is more challenging sometimes. Most techs are here to help, we get paid no other way. But it has to be an actual problem with the vehicle, not a problem with your satisfaction of the car. That's what test drives and our rental system is for, |

The frustrating part for me as a customer is dealing with false promises. First they said my car would be done in a few days, so Wednesday/Thursdayish, then Saturday, then Tuesday afternoon, now it's Tuesday evening and I feel like I'm never getting my car. I wish they would be more direct because I feel like there's something more going on. The middleman people at the service desk don't know either, they're not doing the job Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks like my car is beyond the recall...they called and said I am the lucky winner of a new motor. I will know more about what they found and why I get a new motor on Friday when I have the chance to go to the dealership.

I have to wonder when they put in replacement motors into older model year vehicles; do they get the new engines from the MY17 refreshes? That is, the ones with the improved cylinder blocks that came with both MT and AT MY17+s?

It would be nice if they did but I doubt it. I had no symptoms of having a failed valve spring so I am wondering what it was that they found. The car has 75k and never skipped a beat. I guess I’ll add a new clutch to the “other” things I’ll have them do while it’s out.

If a part gets updated, be it a bolt or a block, the part supersedes in the parts catalog.
We order the most current part number. Now mind you, USUALLY, we dont replace long blocks, we do short blocks And heads come bare, meaning, a side from seats and guides, we have to build the heads from scratch So, if an "update " was applied to a part and your part is being replaced, it should receive the latest version. Usually the parts guys are good about this because usually the updated part cost more..so it helps their paycheck. |

I might not ever know for sure but this is what I am thinking. They have had it long enough to do the recal and fire it up. When they called my wife they said the regional person had approved a “complete engine replacement”. My work schedule doesn’t allow me the chance to call during the day so I am hoping to get some answers on Friday.

They would get a replacement engine that matches what they came out of. Guessing they have different part # between the years that would not be "superseded"/"updated" if there was major changes.

So I went and took a look at my engine today...broken valve spring, bent valve, broken valve guide, and missing valve spring retainer. They are still waiting on the replacement engine. I am currently waiting to see how “complete” the complete engine replacement is.
