Holding off on test drive

Hey folks, really interested in the BRZ yet have held off on a test drive for the following main reason.................

fear of buying it!

Seriously, i've owned an RX-8 and truly enjoyed what that car was all about, minus the first year unreliability, oil drinking, lousy gas mileage that that car possessed. It seems as though this BRZ doesn't have those issues....

Anyways, i've held off for that reason primarily, potential snowy 100 mile roundtrip work commute, and the potential child maybe w/i the next 5 years

Was just curious if anyone else has resisted a test drive and was somewhat vicariously enjoying reading on this forum about others experiences thus far etc.

UPDATE from post 28: Alright guys the test drive wait is over lol! I officially put 7 miles on a FRS 10 series! Wow it was exactly what I was hoping it would be, very similar feeling to my former rx8 imo. Of course numbers were discussed yet I didn't leave with it I promised myself I wouldn't. It's too bad scion has no haggle since 14s are out etc.

I'm most interested in the brz limited though so we'll see. ..

Go drive one and then buy one. Kids love hooning.

Snow tires

I've had mine out in the worst of each of our storms this year. Bit loose in the back end (haven't tried weight), but entirely predictable and correctable plus fun as balls. Been driving it so much (mpg reasons mostly) that I haven't even bothered to put my forester on its winter set yet

i can imagine the fun you're having!! I never put snows on the RX-8 and wish i did just to see how it was...instead i traded it and got a Legacy Spec B.

Posted this in the wrong thread because I'm retarded:

Get the 86 and if you really find that it won't baby five years down the road, then consider getting an additional car as a family-mobile. I wouldn't let the potential for children ruin your sportscar fun, especially if you're looking five years down the line... that's a lot of fun you'll be missing out on.

If the BRZ is going to be your only dd car and you are planning to have kids then i would say no. The twins does have a 5 star safety rating but i still would not be comfortable putting a baby in a very light car.

I own an frs for the sole reason I like to use the word hoon/hooning in as many conversations as possible.

example:
Non twins driver: "I drove my crap bucket to the store today and hot groceries."

Twins driver: "HHHOOOOOOOOONNN"

Being heavy isn't necessarily advantageous in a crash. Don't fall victim to the American "it's gigantic and weighs a ton so it must be safe" fallacy.

No i also disagree on the American saying of the weight but i still wouldnt put my kid in the back seat since it is so small. I would go for a ralliart or wrx, thats just my opinion.

I don't plan on liking my kids. I'd cram them in the back of this tin can
