Yeah for the most part if you are racing your car in any way, autocross, time trials, drag racing, be ready to pay for any damage out of pocket. Lockton does off track day insurance for HPDE's (untimed) usually costs around $300-350 per day.
But, even in running time trials on real race tracks anything over a minor bump or scratch are very rare. Biggest problem is getting all the skid marks from shedding rubber off the paint lol. |

Speeds are significantly lower than a track and most courses are built where they are far away from stuff so you won't hit anything. Not to say there aren't any accidents, but they are very rare and more than likely driven by other reasons. |
