BTW, my wife used a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 until just recently when it experienced screen "scramble". The machine was just over 3 years old.. Got in touch with MS about the issue, they were fully aware of it, calling it a 'screen scramble'.. They refused to replace it but offered a discount if we were to purchase another MS machine, we declined.

But it's appalling that MS are aware of this issue and aren't helping out.. it's like a self destruct mechanism built into the machines!! I feel sorry for students who now have a machine they can't use and they can't afford to replace it!!

Not sure I'd call it appalling. It is out of warranty. To be fair, yea it would be nice to do something about it, but it is not different than any other product. Heck, my 86 started having condensation in the tail lights when it was less than 100 miles outside warranty and Toyota refused to address it.

Again, not unique to either company.

My primary work computer is a SurfaceBook 2. I'm pretty satisfied with it for that purpose, and would upgrade to a new Surface Book when the time came but I wouldn't purchase one for personal use. Then again, I've never owned a laptop for personal use.

Mine are fire tablets from Amazon. They were only like $45. So far so good.

I have a 10" Fire tablet I use as well, but I find them slow and clunky at times. Seems to not be optimized very well for anything other than looking at stuff on Amazon, and using as a Kindle.

I also own an iPad (bought off Groupon) because that is pretty much the only device aviation related software runs on. I basically only use it in the plane/hanger.

Today I learned that Dell can cancel your order.... Just received an email telling me that my order has been cancelled! Called them to be told that I need to get back in touch in few days time. Apparently cancelled due to shortage of parts!!

I don't mind waiting so why cancel. Mysteries of the procurement world!

I had one of the first MS Surfaces and had a similar experience. Kind of a self destructive mechanism. I am using now Panasonic.

My new machine arrived safe and sound. It's very slick, fast and smart. The Wacom drawing tablet is great too, never used one before, the pen is so sensitive, with a nice feel, almost like writing on a A4 pad.

Garage
Currently rocking:
• Ryzen 5 5600x - all core 4.7 GHz (+100 mhz over stock max)
• MSI RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio - VBIOS flashed to Suprim X overclocked to 2175 mhz core, 11001 mhz VRAM.
• 16 (8x2) gb ddr4 3200 mhz (too lazy to upgrade)
• Samsung 1TB 970 Evo, Samsung 1TB 860 EVO, and Western Digital 1TB Blue something HDD
• Cooler Master HAF 932 case with fans in reverse air flow ~ (CPU dropped temps by about 7°C and GPU 2°C)

Majority of its time it's mining, unless I'm gaming on it ... which I don't do all that often anymore. Still, its nice to have the capabilities to game when I feel like it.
