Having owned an S2000 and driven fast ones, the fast setup is NON staggered. Most (every single one that I've seen/driven) fast S2000s (track/autocross cars I mean, not 600hp turbo cars) run 275s all around.

Staggered setups with wider rear tires will just give this car more understeer, which is something very few people here want.

I can adjust my driving with power upgrades to the extent I want power upgrades.

In this car I want neutral handling.. square setups are ideal for that. Until people are pushing serious power (which the majority in here won't be doing, regardless of how much people like to talk about it ) few people will need or want a lot more traction in the back.

Some are already concerned about the rear having too much traction thanks to the EVO review

Granted you aren't talking anything crazy with 8/9 setups and I'm probably biased more towards those who will be using the car for competition/track days.

That works too. It'll show clearance well enough and how it fits in the body work

Thanks!

I agree with Dave, I will only run an equal wheel/tire width on all 4 corners since the car is so neutral. Body and suspension clearance be damned, Id rather set fire to the car than introduce more understeer.

great insight and info ... will definitely keep this in mind and advice the wheels manufacturer.

it really sucks the front have very limited room for wider wheels

do you guys have any aftermarket coils too see how much more room we can get? I'd want to rock at least 8.5 in the front and 9 or 9.5 in the back for my street setup. I'm planning to go with ccw so hopefully they can find a nice offset to get some kind of lip

I def don't want or intend on getting a staggered setup. I want to run 17x8 which I think would be enough body and suspension clearance in the front. I think. I'm not sure what offset will be fine. 40-45 is ok?

Depending on the overall tire diameter (ie if it's low enough not to rub the stock damper) and damper width you can lose space with threaded body coilovers. I've seen cars gain space and cars have less space. If the coils go lower than the tire then you are going to have less space, not more.

This can be a good reason to run staggered (but only if traction is needed). If I had 400HP but could ONLY fit 8s up front then I'd have to run staggered and tune the suspension differently. On the other hand if you can fit 9", 10", etc wheels (whatever is actually needed for the required tires) then I'd prefer non-staggered.. wide tires reduce steering feel/turn in but I'd still rather have square setups (and wide front tires are good for braking, crap for wet weather though).

Unfortunately it sounds like the high HP guys will have to run staggered. I highly doubt my BRZ will ever make too much more power.. sticky 215s or 235s will be plenty for me

Someone should measure scrub radius first. I bet 38 offset is enough to change it from negative to positive, and then say hello to toe-out under braking and probably toe-in in turns.
