HELP ME FIND A DATSUN 240Z FROM JAPAN TO AUSTRALIA....

Hi guys, After reading a few fast4's magazines and a bit of online searching i have fallen in love with the 240z's and fairladys from the good old days.... There are a few people getting around from or in Japan that may be able to get my pet project until the FT-86 is released.... This is a pic of what some young dude did to his in America and although a bit rough its pure sex and whats really got me chasing a 240z myself.... Over here u cant get one for much under 10,000 AUD which is pretty pricey...... Anyway any help would be much appreciated.....

Man if only your here in cali my bestfriend have a rolling chassis 240Z in his garage for few years now, he was thinking doing same almost like the pic you posted w/ an SR20DET in it but I guess lost interest on it. He was selling it to me but I cant do another project car till I finish my N2 project. After the N2 its all about the FT86 so I pass on that, but if your planning to visit cali and know a shipping company I bet he'll sell it to you for less than $1000US.

Im actually willing to spend much more than $10,000 for one..... Its just not worth the prices asked in Australia.... I know in Japan there are a few 240z only workshops that restore them and then sell them on but i dont speak or read Jap and trying to find these shops online is impossible..... Im willing to build one up from scratch from Australia but if i was importing i would be keen to get something pretty much complete with maybe a RB26 or atleast an RB25......

Cheers though 4agze

ahh the 240z

one of my 1st loves

I was going to buy one and do a LSx swap into it (i know i know I should of been thinking a rb or sr at least)

couldn't find a clean body tho and anyone with a good shell wanted top dollars for it

in the end I did a quick budget estimate and getting a new car made more sense and then Toyota annouced its partnership with subie for the ft86 and thats why Im here

I found this forum in Australia which might help narrow down your search for one. Good luck in your search, those are awesome cars.

I don't belive you said that! Come on now love for the L-series! They are the best sounding inline-6 I've ever heard. Still not as much power as the lsx or the rb (God I hate those SR20 powered 240z, I feel so stupied to drive a car that was 6cyl them made into 4cyl!!!!!!!), but a well tuned L-series will do it for me

Guy I used to work with has a 260Z, and swapped in a 327. And my old boss has a 240Z that he put in a 2.8L from a 280ZX, and traded the fuel injection for Webers.

Neither are likely willing to sell though...

I also don't think the Japanese 240Z's will be any cheaper than the Aussie ones.

(And to all you Americans, it's 240 Zed. Not Zee. Japan agrees so no arguments!)

I deff like the sound of the L but finding one in decent shape is hard enough besides parts would be soo much cheaper if I went LSx haha RB if I want to keep the inline 6 DNA alive

Are you sure of this? You sure you don't mean 280z?

260z's are extremely rare...even back when they were new, because they only sold for one year.

If he had a PAIR..holy jeebus man, what did he do with them?

Thanks for response guys keep them coming!!!!....

U certainly need to have them dumped on there ass, literally scraping (speed humps are not an option), and correct offset with plenty of power at hand.... As for prices in Japan.. If i found one good enough i would be willing to pay... Being from Aus an LSx is an option and i have an LS2 in my ute but i think there would be much more fabrication trying to get an LSx in over say an RB...... SR is fine in my opinion but i want serious serious power as i want it to go semi show car so yeah.. Also an LSx is loud all day which i love but around the pigs atleast with an RB i can drive it out of boost.....

Look forward to more help, opinions, advice, comments and pics....

Cheers,

God

Thanks heaps mate.... Looking through the site now.... Good start.... Certainly keen on the 240z over the 280s.... Personally think they look tougher...

reason why I was thinking LSx was because there are a couple conversion kits out there that will make the swap easier

hybridz.org is where you want to go
