Very sharp! Are you going to cover that aluminum with carpet? If you went with a dark grey carpet and a thin layer of foam, you'd have a nice GT3 vibe going on.

They are still working on covering the open areas and then I was just planning on painting it black. That is a good idea though. I may try to do that.

It looks super nice. But what is the reason for the sheet metal in a race car?

Hopefully should have some news on it by the end of the year. Getting new production completed seems like it's going to take a while no matter the factory I go with. They require a tooling creation and apparently a long approval. I'll definitely let you know when I have an update.

I am really forward to see the construction engineering on the cage and other bits.
I have not seen many or any detailed race car build on the forum, only final products, often done quickly.

I know GSpeed will deliver some top notch tips...

So today was a big day for us. We've been planning this for a long time, and some of you knew it was coming.

This morning, we finished stripping out the interior. Dash and dashbar out:

Wiring harness removed:

Floor pan exposed:

In order to make the best quality parts, we had the interior of the car 3D scanned. We've used this procedure on some other cars in the shop, and while it's expensive, it also gives you astoundingly accurate geometry on the shape of the car.

You can imagine the awesome parts we'll be able to make with this much information.

Here's a shot of the computer showing the detail they're capturing here.

It'll be a little bit until we get the processed, usable data back, but we'll be posting up what we design on here as we go. As you've seen already in this build, we're not here to make one-offs. Everything we're making for this car is a potential product. First on the list, the roll cage. Every racecar needs a cage, and this is our next step. Using the data gathered today, we'll be designing the entire cage in Solidworks to ensure the best possible fit to the car. This won't be a cage design adapted for this platform, this is 100% designed from the ground up specifically for this car.

So yes, we will be selling pre-bent and coped cage kits.

Is there still a chance of a bolt in option?

Based on taking your data with the full interior removed, I would guess your options would also require fully/mostly gutted interiors?

Yes, that's still an option. We realize right now more people are daily driving their cars, and would be more interested in a bolt-in for DE use.
