There is a small but very notable difference in how "peppy" it is at launch. They is also a slight decrease in mileage but not horrible and worth the trade off.
If it wasn't such a pain to do I would recommend it to any 13 to 116 owner that wants that little more off the line.

Alright then, I found a local junkyard with 2017+ models and the sold the differential for $500.

If I was to go back to a pre 17 car this is what I would do. Like I said don't expect some massive change. It is a nice improvement though.

This is on my list of "If I'm sticking with gen1, here's the stuff I'm definitely going to do over the winter".

But I've been saying that for 2 years now and haven't gotten to try out a gen 2 yet lol...

I've gone back and forth and the 4.3 works pretty well. You are basically up 2-300 rpm then normal at a given speed along with the added benefit of slightly better torque multiplication. The car just feels a bit more eager to go. I am getting ready to put my 4.3 back in my car, a buddy of mine is going back to a 4.1 since he now is SC'd so he needs my regular diff.

TIL that I totally scored when I got a differential with 17K miles from a totaled car at the junk yard for $125.

I installed 4.56 final drive and love it. No real downside other than the occasional track where the gearing results in either hitting the rev limiter or doing an extra shift - but that varies from track to track.

3300 RPM @ 70MPH does not bother me... it is only about a 11% difference
