Red face QUESTION: Rim & Tire Size at NJ & NY

I am think to get either 225/40/18 on 18X9.5, or 225/40/18 or 225/35/18 on 18X8.5. Also, I may change the front & Rear Spring rate to around 3.5k & 5.0k by lower springs or coilovers.

The OEM wheel is 215/45/17 on 17X7, sping rate 2.3k/3.8k.

I am wondering that whether this wheel setting will make me in dangerous, cuz the road in NJ&NY are shitty.

Is there anyone try this before?

I live in NJ actually, and just got my car two weeks ago. I am just thinking to change something.

Depends what you want, you looking for more show or performance. With the sizes you are presenting in the post above you are looking for a stretch on the tires, the stretch would he more evident in 225/40 18x9.5. If you are looking for coils pair it with some KW3 for great ride quality.

my current setup is 18x8 225/40/18 F and 18x9 245/35/18 R

spring rates 8kg F 9kg R, but keep in mind spring rates aren't going to affect the ride as much as the dampers will

my area has relatively smooth roads now, but I've been to the city and further north where the roads are shittier and my back tends to hurt after an hour plus of driving. depends on where you're driving and how much you can tolerate stiffness
