First gen situation, but I found the problem was that the cable end "sat" on the end of the phone holder slot in the armrest area putting significant pressure on the connector and damaging the charging port as a result.

I made an L-shaped insert out of black packing foam so that the connector sits well above the ledge (bottom of the L) and tighter against the holder slot wall and haven't had any problems since. Of course, given the different design of the Gen2 armrest, this might not be the problem or solution.

I usually would go off of the third party ones they sell in an Apple store and they have multiple companies which make cables with little pieces that allow them to flex more and some are nylon braided - main thing is they have longer warranties than the apple cables and that’s what you want.
This Lightning cable works pretty well in the center console:

For people having issues with CarPlay - I made sure I had the latest software update and then did a factory reset on my head unit. After about an hour of driving CarPlay hasn't done the reboot thing on me. Note, I also reset my ECU when I did this but I can't imagine that would have any impact.

I wouldn't really say this is a problem but it's definitely annoying..

When stuff falls between the cup holder and seats oh my god is it so hard to get out, there's literally no room. I occasionally drop my e-cig in there along with some change and random stuff, I always scratch the hell out of my hand trying to get it out.

Took me so long to find a proper seating position for me so I do my best to not move the driver seat unless it's a last resort and I really can't get the item out

The rear driver-side indicator works intermittently (has happened maybe 50% of the time during my first two weeks of ownership). Normally occurs first thing in the morning, where it won't work for the first 10 min then it will start working.

Took it in this morning, of course when I brought it to the shop it was working, although it wasn't working 5 min prior. The techs looked at it and said they ensured the connections were tight but ultimately it was working now so nothing they could do.

As I was leaving and in the parking lot of the dealership, it stopped working again, I went back in to get the tech to prove I'm not crazy. In the 5 min of getting the tech, it started working again (the vehicle wasn't moved during this period). So they are going to order a new rear light assembly, but of course, they are on backorder.

Not the end of the world by any means, just adding this to the thread.

I think there are cheaper generics on Amazon as well.

edit: ^^ yeah, that or similar.

Went to a local car club meet sponsored by a toyota dealer a couple years ago when you could still do that.

One of the freebie giveaways for showing up were a pair of fabric covered foam shims to shove between the seat and center console.
There's a slot for the seatbelt button to shove through the middle.
Keep EVERYTHING from sliding under the seat.
I'd miss them if they were gone.

I've seen them for sale somewhere or other. Recommended.

I've been having some weird issues with traction control. When I press and release the traction control switch, the TRAC OFF light shows for about 5 seconds and then disappears.

The only way it will stay disabled is if I hold it for more than 3 seconds (disable TRAC and VCS), but that changes to the track display which I don't like. I thought that bar rpm display was only for track mode.

Single press traction control off turns back on over 30 mph iirc

That would make sense. Couldn't find anything about it on the owners manual.

You can set this option in the head unit, maybe yours reset for whatever reason? I had to set mine when I first got the car.

That's good to know! Thank you. How did you turn it on?

Mine had it on when I got it and it just randomly disappeared. I wonder if this has something to do with the occasional restart of the carplay.
