I was parked at a college campus visiting some friends, I don't that a dashcam would have identified the random college student who did it well enough to be useful. :/

My sons Elantra has big dents in the roof from something like that. It was while he was parked near the university and ever-so-awesome Isla Vista.

I have one. If you guys don't have one installed on both front and back I recommended getting it done.
If you could catch 1 perp or prove your not at fault in just 1 accident, it would pay for itself straight away. And you get to record some antics or your interesting trips as bonus. |

My MR2 got hit pretty bad while parked and the person drove off without leaving a note. To replace all the damaged parts with new ones would've been a nice 1.5k, most of which I'd pocket by just putting some touchup paint on and waiting for the next jackass to hit the car and pay for more damages. It also had the same thing happen to the OP, but no dents luckily. The bumper had been swiped by some incompetent people trying to parallel park as well. Damn, now that I think about it, a dashcam would've gotten me quite a bit of damage payment. |

I'm interested in this too, since I want to do the Shorai battery replacement and I'm wondering if dashcams will drain it too fast.

But we're talking only a few watts here, so a dashcam could easily use that all up. |
