Meat and bread should never be crunchy.

Everytime I get some sort of meat with a crunch, I flashback to my grade school history class, where the teacher told us how the sailors on long voyages would eat their maggot-infested bread in darkness so they didn't have to see the maggots.

Lettuce just always tastes bitter to me, which doesn't help matters..

I'd rather leave lettuce for the rabbits, and then eat the rabbits.

I've heard that aversion to bitterness is genetic and I believe it. No food is as polarizing as broccoli and brussels sprouts. I bet you hate them.

I swear it was a line in a movie so I googled it. Big mistake.

Same for me with lettuce, even the greenest pieces with no browning.

I hate those and also cauliflower. Not for a bitter reaction, though, but because I get a seriously bad gag reflex. I'm not sure if it's the texture when it reaches the middle/back part of my tongue or what.

I have found the secret to downing those foods is to smother the pieces in cheese -

I'll take lettuce > hogs > bacon > yum-yum.

Same. For me, the produce is just as important as the bread or meat in a great Sammy or burger.

Now finding great produce in Idaho is a bit harder than NorCal.

That's how I am with soft fruit. Smoothies is about the only way I can get fruit into my diet. Texture issues are real.
