You realize the first 4 minutes is a straw man argument right?

For example, let's extend that concept to all living things. Plants are living. Vegans make a conscious choice to kill more plants for food. You actually kill more complex organisms (and/or their offspring) with a plant-based diet than a meat based diet.

I didn't watch the rest, assuming it was more of the same.

While I don't hold the same moral issue with killing plants as I do animals there is a compromise (of course) with the vegan outlook. Food plants require farming, farms destroy native growths so while vegans might hold the moral/ethical high ground they do not get off without some blame/guilt.

I have read that artificial meat suffers from the same issues as other processed food: high in fat, salt, "additives". I put "additives" in quotation marks because all of the ingredients of processed meat are additives.

Just like many vegan foods too lol

The day we have to move to a vegan only diet, I will jump off a building.

I was just taking the straw man to the next step to provide an example. Given that I don't hold the same moral issue of killing animals for food as equivalent to killing a human. The guy in the video equates killing food animals to murder, dog fights, and genital mutilation.

You should really finish the video because he addresses all arguments against veganism, which should be clear in the video title.

Plants don't have central nervous systems or pain receptors, so killing plants is not the same as killing animals, nor is the process of growing plants torturous like it is for animals.

Your second statement is obviously false. We can eat plants directly, or we can feed animals plants and then eat animals, which is eating plants indirectly. Which is more efficient? Which results in more plants being eaten? Like he said, 70-80% of soy (if I remember correctly) is used to feed livestock. If someone wanted to reduce the consumption of plants in the world then they would be vegan.

You should also watch the video because he addresses this fallacy too.

The vast majority of the crops we produce and land we cultivate is produced to feed livestock. On top of that, there is a large amount of land that is set aside as pasture land. The land that we would need to set aside to feed humans plants would be far less than the land we set aside to feed animals plants, so that we can later consume animals.

On top of that, as he mentions, the slow conversion of the population to veganism would slowly reduce the population of livestock. While he doesn't address climate change, this would reduce the production of methane. While methane doesn't make up the majority of greenhouse gas emissions compared to CO2, methane traps heat 30+ times greater than CO2, so in fact, methane is the more egregious gas. Between enteric production and manure, around 3-4% of greenhouse gases come from livestock, but because methane traps heat at 30+ times CO2, that production has a greater effect than the CO2. The big difference is methane is short lived, but CO2 is more longer lived in the atmosphere, so the effects of CO2 production has much greater implications for the future.

We obviously don't need to eat 3D meat or other processed foods. Obviously you can be a vegan or omnivore and consume chips, French fries, and candy, but this isn't healthy. It is best to eat whole grains, beans/legumes, fruits/veggies and nuts/oils. With that said, we do have a lot of people eating processed foods far from the whole foods they once were, so I don't see why someone would have a preference, for instance, for a hamburger or sausage over a vegan alternative. I actually prefer the Beyond Meat vegan sausage and meatballs because it tastes good and is almost the same in taste and texture, but it also is easier on my digestive system than the meat.

If you notice the labels they are very similar. The Beyond meat does provide 20 more grams per serving, which is 36% more grams, so we would need to multiply all the values on the Johnsonville sausages by 36% to normalize things: 231 calories, 18g fat, 6g sat fat, 54mg cholesterol, 612mg sodium, 1.36g carbs, 13.6g protein. Interestingly, the Beyond Meat sausage has more protein, but not surprisingly, it has less calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium per gram.
