You need to put in your stock ecu and use your original key to make the car drivable.

ECU swapping is not really a thing, unless you're swapping stock for a standalone like MoTeC.

ProECU tells me that the stock ROM I want to use is incompatible with the existing ROM already programmed with the used ECU and to choose another ROM.

I have plenty of flash points as seen below along with the messages I'm getting:

Does anyone know what the problem might be, or what I might be doing wrong?

Is there a workaround that I am unaware of?

Do I need to contact my tuner or EcuTek?

For what it's worth, I'm doing this to get the used ECU operational and to get my ProECU license into the vehicle, I am not making any other modifications that require tuning yet and I still want to be able to drive the car.

No the message is just ecutek complaining that the rom calid you want to flash into the substitute ecu is not compatable, but in this case you actually want to flash in the different calud ecu

just private message me and ill tel! you how to get arround the problem. Its easy to do but if misused can stop car from starting ot running.

You still need flash points which looking at the logs you have enough

There is couple of reasons to swap

your old ecu is faulty
your super paranoid about warantee to want to switch in a second ecu to tune with
you crashed car and want to swap engine and ecu into new car

probably a few more but done quite a few ecu swaps

Over here on this side of the pond, the legal ramifications are such that this is a big no no for anything driven on public roads.

Faulty ECU: better have documentation for it
"keeping for warranty": that would be fraud
crashed car: better have good documentation

Update:

Was successfully able to complete force-flashing a 2015 D00C ProEcu ROM into the spare 2013 ECU that was originally flashed with a an "incompatible" A00C ROM. Car is back up and running.

Special thanks go to:

@steve99 for his original write up for replacing a bricked ECU, and his offer for me to PM him here to get this resolved,

And to @tomm.brz for his reply and deleted post on this thread. Luckily I was able to read it before it was yanked without explanation (however I now know the reason why it was). Your original suggestion is what we finally ended up going with.

And to the person whom works at the shop that I purchased my ProECU kit from whom I will not mention here, although I have personally thanked him through private e-mail,

and to the techs at EcuTek who were (semi-)helpful to the last person I thanked above. We had a small issue that was quickly remedied. (This ProECU software can be finicky.)

One other comment that I would like to make is:

"Never allow your inner voice to be silenced by the noises of others."

Most swaps are for faulty ecu inputs or output chanels mainly the cam issues on earlier cars or people with brzedit locked ecu as long as it's not ecutek you don't have license renewal issue so fairly easy and quick you can recode Vin and calid of rom all the ecu are same hardware.

For instances where an ECU replacement is warranted and the appropriate documentation is provided, Ecutek will issue you another license at no cost.
