I'll be there

LostSalad - there's nothing to crash into at Redstar which is great. So if you need a confidence boost it is the place to go. Its much less scary the Z.

I've never done AC either so will be interesting! But how often do you get to try out a brand new track?

So I managed to put all 4 wheels on the grass today . I was too hot, so decided straightening out and going straight off was the best plan of action. There were some SPECTACULAR offs today. Ho-lee-shit. A Forester was coming off the pit straight into the kink... and just went straight over the grass. Not even a turn.

Another Scoob (no shit - it's Scoobyfest) must've braked too hard in the kink, because I saw some wild fishtailing action and a load of dust.

There was an oldschool BMW 3 series that had a wild spin right into the middle of the grass on one of the track "loops". He got a big cheer from the crowd.

Both incidents at the kink were in front of me (safe distance) and I wish I had a dashcam to record it... both of them also drove super slow - they must've left some skidmarks, but not the good kind

FE has done around over 3000 TRACK km in his SC 86, which is an absolute testament to both the 86, and the benefits of an appropriate maintenance cycle.

I'm sure he'll post something a bit later, but he does oil changes every 7500km, and changes/checks his brake fluid more frequently. Nothing elaborate.

Stay confident, because indecision is the killer.
Damn, somehow I missed this comment before heading to track today. Thanks for the encouragement! By the end of the day the nerves were replaced by adrenaline, and both me and my car survived. Although I haven't replaced my rear brake pads since I started tracking - I think it's well time I took a look at them @_@

Yes, for sure it was.

I've never seen so many Scoobys in one place at one time ever - wow!!
There were hundreds of them, all shapes and sizes, and everybody seemed to be having a ball whether they were posers, bullshitters, track racers, skidpan gymkhana pro's, drag racers, mud bath 4x4'ers, or whatever.

Well done organisers!!

My only advice is - if you do it again at Red Star, you can go down to 3 classes for track sessions, then there'll be more track time for all.
Red Star can handle many cars on it's long circuit, and don't worry about passing in corners, that's OK at RSR

Jeez, there's only corners, where else can you pass?

PS: Thanks for letting us semi-scoobies (86's) feel so welcome too

Video from session 1 of class 5.

Taking on cars with double my BHP. They're all 500hp+
But if you're in an 86 - never fear, just put foot - you can do it!!

The other cars are Wayne Hay (blue), Carl van As (black), and an unknown (very hot) Evo party crasher

It's all about momentum.
Even with an SC car, it's momentum that counts.
If you get your line right, and carry speed through the corner, that's gold.
You can "point and shoot" when you've got big hp, but it's only part of the equation...

Thanks, agreed - 86 looks like it belongs in a corner. Which it does!

No rubbing at all.
