No. I mean Subaru. Those are obviously not theirs. I have 2 Subarus and they are not like that. So Toyota must have wanted those for some reason.

So is it possible to change it out is my question.

One would have to take off the steering wheel and open up the column to see if they're similar to the Gen 1 cars as far as connectors. I remember the Gen 1 cars, the stalks were one of the few parts where "Toyota" was printed.

You could ask someone to check for this if they plan on putting an after market steering wheel.

Without knowing however I can only guess possible with no definitive. I have not seen Lexus people go out of their way to change them, BMW people on the other hand have had success in this regard.

It’s fairly likely the gen1 stalk could fit. If they’re both Toyota parts it is very likely they have the same mechanical and electrical interface.

What next?
Complaining about the refresh rate of the speedometer? Oh wait...
The stalks must have annoyed people enough that BMW (which started the trend i think) has actually gone away from them and went back to the regular styled stalks that stay in position.

Except it feels cheap as shit in the one rental 330 i drove awhile back lol.

My old Scion IM felt better cuz i think the stalk was thicker, and so does the 86.

THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT ITEMS THAT MUST BE TALKED ABOUT GUYS!! REMEMBER THAT!

Real luxury would be no stalks at all. Look left or right "Bangles Style", blink twice, signals come on. Now there's luxury.

(if you don't know what that is, watch the video for "Walk Like an Egyptian" your life will never be the same)

Possibly. Possibly non-trivial amount of effort.
But does it annoy you that much, even though you haven't tried it yet?

Nothing annoys me until I try it. But I have used those types of turn stalks in the past and swore I would never buy a car with one. Yet mine is on the way. LOL. If it isn't hard to switch it out I would. It sounds like a true pita so I prob won't.

Self-driving cars are on the way, we will have reached the pinnacle of luxury with absolutely 0 interaction!

Who needs stalks when the car turns for you!

I picked up my car today, and cannot see why there is so much controversy over the turn signal stalk.

Guess I am used to my wife's 3 series BMW, but I find the turn signal stalk fine.

It only will take 5 minutes (or less) to get accustomed to it. No big deal.

There is no real controversy, but it sure is fun to pretend like there is.

True! For me it was weird at first, for a couple of days honestly, but I am used to it now. I think I might even like it more than the traditional style, because it does have a quality feel to it.

People just don't like change, you see it everywhere.

Congrats on the new car

I found that as long as you know about the change it takes you like 10 seconds to get used to it. It’s not like it’ll be muscle memory for a couple days but it’s not worth a discussion post that’s several pages long.
