Really impressive, congrats to Ford for entering the expedition segment but I'm biased, one of my hobbies is photo safaris off the beaten path. The data shows Ford put a lot of thought into producing a Rubicon fighter out of the box. This will be an especially hot commodity anywhere west of the Rockies.
Ford's timing is on point as well due to the ongoing record number of RV sales choking traditional national and state parks making more adventurous types looking into undeveloped Bureau of Land Management and other similar sites to recreate. Ford also came out with an all-wheel drive Transit van that's sold out as adventurers convert them into off-road RV's. Who wants to sleep in their new RV forced into a Wal-Mart lot overnight anyway? At the starting price, FCA must be concerned since they revealed a Rubicon V-8 prototype on Bronco day. Rude. People thought the FJ Cruiser was an odd duck but had some similarities to this new Bronco with its retro styling and pedigree going back decades with Land Cruiser influence and it sold above plan every year. I think Bronco will be a hit, a welcome industry player invading the sea of bland electrified crossovers. |

i'm definitely interested. now strip the entire a/v system out and let it sit for a week. if it still starts while missing everything after a week, i'm more interested.
but i doubt it will make it.

I think this will be a winner for Ford. Not something I'm likely to own, but I don't do a lot of offroading in full size trucks (prefer motorcycles and quads for that).
That said, I know the front is retro, but I'm not crazy about that part, looks like a stylized toy. I will say from watching a couple of videos though it looks OK with the lights turned on.

I like it, and I commend Ford for attempting to go toe to toe with the Wrangler, something that really has completely owned a segment of the market for years now. They draw on a classic design (one of my old favorites), albeit a bit too rounded, but it's about the best we can expect these days for broad market appeal. It sounds like it will be a pretty capable machine too, but we'll have to see how they hold up.

Toyota should get in on this and make it a 3 horse race with a resurrected FJ40.
The current Land Cruiser has gotten way too big. Plus they dont really need to make a "offroad family" of sorts as they have the 4runner and the Land Cruiser/Lexus LX to take care of the larger sized entries. They seem kind of reactive to these things and end up being late to the party all the time though..... |

10/10 for the Bronco. The interior is sort of... eh with that painted trim piece. Otherwise, pricing and options are competitive. But holy shit, $63K for a loaded 4-door.
Pricing Breakdown Not cheap. I agree it is a shame that Toyota couldn't make the FJ Cruiser a real competitor to the Wrangler and just gave up. Not sure the work that would be needed to rework the Tacoma to get the doors and roof off, but I'm sure they could figure it out. |

The remaining prices seem pretty much inline with what I would expect for the different classes of options, and fits into their normal multi-layer versions of vehicles. The one thing that surprises me (and I'm not kidding) is that they are offering any of them in white. I would have thought they would have avoided that tie-in.

They were set to announce it on the birthday of that tie-in until the internet lost their mind over the connection.

If the base model will pull a car trailer with the BRZ on it, this might be right up my ally.

Not the type of powerplant I'd want to abuse in the middle of nowhere but I guess the roughest terrain most of these things will encounter are speed bumps in gated communities
