We can confirm those are not the same wheels as the GR Yaris (very similar though), so probably a cheaper non-forged version. It might keep the 5x100 PCD then...

Little early to say whether I like it or not since can't see the whole package but there are at least three points against it for my taste.
1 - Not a huge fan of the head and taillight layout. People can complain about the current shapes but at least they were not as generic as the little bit we can see in these pictures.
2 - Where are the hips over the rear wheels? Hopefully it is just the camo doing a good job but it looks like they are shrunk up.
3 - The front fender humps are most certainly gone. They were a huge part of the flow of the overall lines and gave it a sort of retro sports car look.

Not sure about the vents. If they are fake then I will be 100% sure.
The overall effect is just a bit more "industrial" than I care for but that could change when the whole uncamoed car is visible.

At least whoever took the spy shots did so from more than 8 inches off the ground so you can get at least an idea of things!

My thoughts exactly! I think the hips are still there, but maybe a bit lower and less pronounced. In the previous spy shots, it looked like they changed the fuel filler door shape quite a bit, which gives a hint as to its shape.

I really think I am going to need to put my car right next to the new one before I know whether I like how it looks or not.

I'm super excited they're continuing it. I have never bought a new car before, but maybe I should to help support a company not only building, but improving a modern purists sports car. At least I assume they're improving it lol. I'm happy if everything stays the same but just with more displacement. Cracking 240whp na in a twin would be epic if the aftermarket can do it.

Just read somewhere that Gen 2 is out this Fall! I nearly "falled" off my chair!! 252bhp, body not too different from what we currently have...

Yep.
Looks like some people confuse the words "Premier" with "Release".
Subaru even states it is a 2022 model so people lining up to buy them this fall may be in for a bit of a wait.

i saw a vid of the subifest and it looks like this is as close as you can get to it. The cars seem to be moving in a line and when you get to the BRZ you only get to see it via a drive by with a mesh in front obscuring any details.

Definitely hard to tell, but you can see from the way the light reflects that the rear hips are still there. How pronounced vs the first gen is definitely too hard to tell.

Front fender humps are as you say it, though it seems more like they are still there but much longer so to speak. First gen is definitely more attractive in that aspect.

Well "attractive" is of course completely and totally subjective and features some love will be appalling to others.
I have always like the more organic lines of the FRS and 86 (although the 86 one is a bit busy) bumpers over the angular straight lines of the BRZ bumpers since they flowed so much better through the rest of the car. This appears like they took the angular lines of the BRZ bumper and applied that to the rest of the body. The result may be a bit more slab sided than the current gen. Of course some aero may fix this but I am not convinced this is headed in a stylistic direction I will like. Will have to wait and see though since everything may flow better without the camo and curtains.

I wonder if the new wheels will fit our first gens and if they will continue using Prius tires?

They might offer summer tires as option and may come with 18 inch wheels standard now.

Overall shape looks good - not feeling the taillights though. But will keep my 2013 as it feels so good to not having a car payment.

I think it will be a 220-240hp non turbo with 6 speed manual and CVT as option.

Can't wait to see some side by sides of the new and current gen.
I'm also not so sure about the new head/tail lights designs but will reserve my judgement for when it premiers and we get some real photos and details about the car.

At the end of the day at least this platform lives on!

Much of it will likely be parts bin stuff so it is a good probability that the wheels will fit.

Excuse the terrible PS cut out.

The lighting catches some of the edges of the body that almost suggests we aren't too far off from the current car, but I agree that the rear fender looks very strange. I can't make out what we are seeing. Also on the front fender just ahead of the door where the current car's garnish is located there is something catching the light.

The other most obvious difference is the door. The cutline at the front is verticle and meets at where the front of the A-pillar goes behind the hood. The rearquarter window stays flat before sweeping upward.

I think the front end might be a angled back a bit more. Very 718 Cayman/ Boxer in terms of fender design. Probably my favorite part of the design so far.

Kind of looks like a 2door kia stinger too me, which is still pretty good, but it does seem some of the curves and uniqueness of the first gen is gone. If the D4S is gone as expected and the safety nanos are all added as anticipated its just a different kind of car then, though I'm sure it will still be fun. Seems to still look better then the Supra too lol.
