If you had to prescribe one platform or the other to an 18 year old who loves Californian YouTubers, has 6 figure budget and wants 750whp with hellaflush, which would you pick?

With a tune, it would gain some power. Zero reliability impact with a good tune.

I read the transmission can shift from 8th to 4th no problem. 200ms, but then that will probably delay building boost even more. Responsiveness compared to an EV is what I care about.
By the time the downshift has happened, boost is already at full.

Yes, the trans can and will skip gears.

Cruising in 8th is still within spool window; I can have full boost at ~1800 rpm, even with my increased power.

Not an accurate comparison. The Model Y has a top speed on 135mph with 1 gear.

That would be equivalent to approximately 5th gear in the supra, but lets use 6th for posterity.

My 60-80 time in 5th gear only is ~1.4s, and 6th gear only ~1.65s. I've not tried 50-70.

Even if it's turbocharged ? Does the stock system with cat deleted be efficient enough not to cause any reliability issue as well ?

Any rattles or creaks in the Supra? The BRZ/86 don't have the highest quality interior so you'll be in for an endless journey trying to track down every noise.

Is the wind buffeting fixed when driving with the windows down on the Supra?

Responsibly build, with a reasonable amount of power? yes, reliable.

Zero noises.

Buffeting is a fact of life.
