Today I learned that the Cambridge American Cemetery is well considered memorial to the American war dead. Happen up the cemetery as their car park was being used by a local Cambridge college that my wife and I were visiting as it was my wife's graduation.

I find some cemeteries very interesting from a cultural and historical perspective. There are a couple of cemeteries in Paris and Rome that are on the agenda when the wife and I get to go traveling again.

On the cultural front, my wife and I come from a religion that cremates our dead and scatters the ashes in flowing water.. Graveyards/cemeteries not the usual place to visit, but yesterday the college had made parking arrangements at the American cemetery so by chance we happen to see the place. It was rather understated but very majestic, size, the architecture and the location all adding to the atmosphere. Worth a visit if you ever in the UK and Cambridge on the doorstep..

I'm fascinated by cemeteries, particularly that go back centuries. I want to read every tombstone. In college we did a performance of Spoon River Anthology. Based in a graveyard, it tells the tale of a town through short poems from those buried in the cemetery. I played half the male characters. Well worth a read if you into that type of thing.

Civilian cemeteries tell a story, Military cemeteries are full of awe and sacrifice. The first time I went to Arlington National Cemetery (for a friend's Father's internment), I basically couldn't speak. It was massively overwhelming. When they played taps I balled like a baby.

I grew up in the DC area, been to Arlington more times than I can count in 50 years. To this day, when I go, the reaction is pretty much the same.

Go fast, take chances.

My wife and I visited the Canadian war memorial at Vimy Ridge in France in 2017. It was both awe inspiring and spooky. I was surprised how emotional it was considering it memorializes events that occurred 100 years before our visit.

It’s also odd that the site is basically a little piece of Canada. It’s even staffed by Parks Canada personnel. The streetlights are decorated with beavers.

More of a "this past weekend I learned", that in order to enjoy the full benefits of an OLED, QLED QHD, 4K TV, you need to a streaming device that hooks up to your HDMI port. Such as Apple TV, Roku, Fire Stick, Google TV, etc.

I was messing with the TV settings because I couldn't figure out why is it that the picture quality and full range of refresh rate wasn't being used. When I selected the "Info" option on the settings, I saw it, the TV was pinned at 1080p 30Hz. So I did some research and learned a whole lot on HDR, Dolby Atmos and all jazz. Got an Apple TV, hooked it up, and there it was, full HDR at 60Hz with 1440p.

And then you need to make sure its a minimum of HDMI 2.0 for 60Hz or 2.1 for 120Hz. Hz=FPS
Also 1440 is only 2K BTW.
VERY surprised you even needed to g that route since it should be a smart TV.

That is correct, HDMI cables at least for now are a little limited compared to DP cables, I think there's a new gen coming out but my TV is limited to 60HZ and getting something better could cost quite a few hundred $$$.

Correct, 4K is a very loosely term for all monitor/TVs, even LED tvs are labeled 4k for some odd reason. True or say, native 4K is UHD or 3840x2160.

I was surprised too, but Im thinking is just another way for companies to make money, the TV may be advertised as QHD, UHD, etc, but hey "We also sell this streaming device to further increase the benefits".
That being said, the apps in the TV, on occasion, depending on the movie/show, were able to sometimes show a clearer and sharper picture, but now, somehow, it is way better with a streaming device.

Don't even get me started on how 1440 was originally called 4K when 1080 first came out.

Or that 1920 isn't 2k while 3840 is 4k...

Basically, the product failed because when people heard the A&W burger was 1/3 lb vs the McDonald's 1/4lb, they thought the A&W was smaller rather than larger.

Short version is they saw the McDonald's denominator was a bigger number and didn't understand how fractions worked.
