Next week, gonna be playing again. I’ve ordered next up spicy sauce, it’s called Last Dab XXX. It suppose to be 1 million Scoville more than last sauce I’ve used.

Why? First one to the hospital wins?

I have the thermostats I use from my phone all the time.

My sprinkler system is controlled via wifi which is great because the control is behind a bunch of crap and a dark corner of our basement. I had to replace the original controller and I didn't think I'd like the new one with WIFI but it was on sale and cheaper than a regular one. I'm glad I got it.

The only other IoT thing we have is our Range. I turned it on once just to see how it worked, then turned it off. You can do a lot of things with it, all unnecessary, and doesn't do the one thing I would want it to do, synchronize the time.

OK, technically I guess my Dish Network boxes are IoT and I do use my phone as a remote on occasion for them.

In the end, like most things, if the tech gadget makes sense I'm all in, it it doesn't I don't bother.

For example, I have at least one outlet in each room of our house I've replaced with one that has USB ports for charging/power. I don't have a need for remote controlled outlets though, so I don't have any.

Reminds me of the old story that in a sales meeting the sales manager instructed his salesmen to drink ONLY whisky or bourbon. When a salesman ask why, the sales manager replied that he wanted their customers to think they were just drunk ...... not stupid.

I was a long time skeptic, but I've converted. It's really nice to be able to go upstairs, get ready for bed, lay down and say, "hey Google - turn off all the lights." Or, in the morning, say, "hey Google - good morning," and have it/her turn on the downstairs lights, remind me what's on my calendar for the day, tell me the weather forecast, and play the Austin NPR station.

Yep. I don't use the heat at night, so when it was still chilly I could set up a routine that turns a couple lights on in the living room every morning at 8am and starts up the heat to take the chill off the room. Super handy.

A weekend off to work on the car turned into a weekend of building a giant fuck off shed for a friend.

What's the difference between a normal shed and a fuck-off shed?

It’s big enough we need a permit but he didn’t get one.
