I want to thank you all for your input! I think I've done all the keyboard analysis I can do for now. I'm going to be doing a lot of test driving in the next month or so. I'll update this thread when I make a purchase; BRZ or otherwise.

Thats down to your personal taste. I've seen 16", 17", 18" and 19" wheels on an 86 that ive liked the look of. Its generally accepted that a light 17"x8" or 17"x9" is the best performance compromise.

Since everyone is weighing in their opinions i'll do the same based on my own experiences:
Leave the car stock or near stock for 6 to 12 months. Figure out what you like and what you loath about it given where and how you typically drive it. I bought my car new so only did minor, easily reversable things to the car whilst it was under factory warranty. All I did was front camber bolts, grimspeed intake, aftermarket snorkel and an OFT tune. Oh and better tyres when I wore through the stock ones.

Shortly after I was out of warranty I did a rod bearing, so I figured why not do headers and overpipe while I was throwing in a replacement motor. I also did a light flywheel and lightly heavier duty clutch. From there it was a slippery slope of coilovers, midpipes, heavy duty bushes etc.

The header, overpipe, midpipe and flywheel all combined to make a much more usable and responsive feeling car.

If you like UELs have a look at the JDL one. It does leave some of the torque dip (it is reduced tho) but it rips on either side of the dip.

Oh yeah. I think I talked to you in a different thread about that. Good setup and great tuner. I got IC 210 but with WMI instead of E85 same tuner. Your in for a treat. Are you coming from stock?

Edit. Nvm I see your uel with custom E85 tune? Still will be a huge difference.

Yup I can't wait. With about 275whp and 225-230wtq it's gonna feel great. No boost lag, plenty of down low wtq. I just hope my 225 sized Indy Firehawks and 2017 dampers with yellow springs and an alignment from westend can handle the power. Also add a JR dual radiator for proper cooling and to add as little heat to the IC as possible.

I’m probably making 250whp and my 225 bfgoodrich g-force comp-2 a/s can not hold the power at all in 1st, even 2nd is a bit iffy if the road is anything but perfect. Really don’t want to buy new rims again though. Been debating if 245s would bulge too much or not on my 17x8s. Curious how yours hold up to even more power.

Lol yes, much keyboard analysis going on here, probably too much. People here will tell you this header will make twice as much as this other header, intakes will/won't make hp, 18s carry too much inertia, on and on. In the end, mods can make the car more responsive than stock, but you're still talking about a car that is not "fast" by many standards unless you go FI. So best thing is to take an extended drive, drive a couple other cars you're considering, take your time, and decide which speaks to you. Oh and have fun while doing it

I'd say it's lot of fun with "not fast" car to overtake "fast cars" on track.

Only 2 headers I would look at is the Ptuning or the Ace. Both make great power.

Your problem is you are on all seasons, not the size of the tire.

When i initially was looking at headers i narrowed it down to JDL Ptuning and Ace, before settling on Ace.

That definitely doesn't help, that's why i am curious how his hold up.
Been thinking about getting 245 pilot sports, rains way too often to be running summer tires though.

I'm actually at a Toyota dealership right now. The wouldn't let me drive the TRD.

But I drove a base 86 AT as well as the Camry XSE V6. The Camry was exactly as expected...which was good because I had high expectations. Plenty of torque, but trans felt very "toned down".

I was really surprised by the 86 AT. The engine felt much better than the BRZ I drove. I wonder if they had put 87 octane in the BRZ. For a torque converter AT, it was fantastic. No forced upshifts and pretty darn quick throttle blip.

Cloths seats on the 86 we're not as nice as the BRZ, if my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

They also had a better test drive route that allowed me to play with the handling in the performance a little bit more, so that helped.
