So my dealership contacted me and decided that this was environmental damage and was not a flawed paint job. They did however decide to pay for the car to be repainted. Pretty lucky to have an awesome dealership and service dept at Beaman Toyota.
also clean bird poop off your car as soon as you see it. |

Almost looks like battery acid type damage. Anybody not like you or your new car?

Regional rep said environmental damage, and stated it's not under warranty. Dealership is not going to do anything for me. Looking at my options now. Glad you had good luck at your dealership, that's awesome.

I noticed part of my paint bubbled up yesterday. I was wondering what it was and when I touched it the paint just fell off.

Well, looks like I could be in the same boat guys. Have a few places starting to show where no dirt has been. I also haven't allowed the car to sit dirty for more than two weeks unless due to rain and it is garage kept. Will be visiting dealer on Friday where I will point out what I'm seeing. Also may swing by a trusted auto body shop for their opinion too. Will update accordingly. Also, for the record I have had my car just over a year and near 17500 miles on the clock.

I got something similar on my Firestorm. It's all over my Hood, Fenders, Roof, and one rear quarter. I always notice new ones after a car wash. Ill take some pics and post when the weather clears up a bit.

I also have this issue; discovered after washing my car.
I've already sent the dealer an email with this same picture, so I'll see what they have to say. The paint in this area is lifting indicating adhesion failure so I'm confident this is a manufacturing defect. *Edit* This peeling issue is on my hood. Last edited by crustol; 10-28-2013 at 02:12 AM. The more people that report this, the more likely that toyota will identify it as an issue and fix it.

Just a follow-up on what I've done after I found my paint issue on the hood:
-E-mailed the service manager at the dealer with pictures. -Took in my car to the dealer. The service guy took pictures of the paint defect and sent it to the District Service and Parts Manager. -Few days later, was notified that the paint damage was caused by "something environmental such as bird dropping" (this analysis was only based on pictures, so I'm not convinced) -However, they agreed to a "one time" good will repainting. -Set up appointment with body shop, and now I'm stuck driving a mini-van for the next few days, ugh... My car had around ~1900 miles at this point. Hope this helps for those who have issues with their paint. |

The paint has to be terrible IMHO if it can't withstand natural environmental situations such as bird crap. I've owned alot of cars and I've NEVER had issues with paint bubbling or peeling off as shown above. I've heard of using fewer layers of paint to save weight, but this is ridiculous.
