I see where they're coming from though. Just a shame, coming back from an accident like that, and still finishing 7th is no ordinary treat.

On the other hand.... No further action against RB for Perez driving basically the whole race with a broken front wing. Weird.

That was pretty much why they complained. Given Kmag's propensity to get into first lap incidents he was getting flagged for repairs often, and in instances Haas didn't believe the part was in danger of coming off. So seeing that happen they lodged protests.

Understandably so. I foresee a "clarification of the rules" in the near future. Or at least for next season.

Once again the Effing, Imbecilic, A$$ Hats (FIA) make it up as they go. Neither them, the stewards or the Clerk of the Course thought Alonso's mirror was a problem. Heck, how many times have we seen cars loose end plates or whole front wings and not get a penalty? Eh! But Haas cries like the babies they are well after the time limit and after the car has passed post race inspection AND... Alonso gets punted from 7th to 15th.
The real kicker though is Stroll getting a three place grid drop and two points on his license for a racing incident. Come on now, how many times have we seen Alonso make his car so wide that faster cars couldn't get around him on either side. Everyone says that's great racing from a two time champion. But, Stroll does it and it's "Off with his Head"! I mean, as a racer and a race mentor I know that the car making the pass is responsible for making a clean, safe pass. Lance did move over but... he moved very little from his in car view and from every angle it's clear that he left Alonso lots of room to make the pass. It was just that they both were a little late in their moves and they came together.
AND... Don't get me started on the Cost Cap, Zak Brown's letter and that whole debacle...

Missed out seeing the last 3 races due to unexpected family visits in the past weeks that tied me down in town
and a trip this weekend to see some Rallying in the Charlevoix region (see the Photo tread for some picts!)

Finally caught up last night and that last one was a great race to watch. Agree those penalties were quite the head scratcher.

Strongly disagree on the above Stroll comment. You cannot move like that when being passed. It's extremely dangerous and drivers would be dying left and right if that was allowed to be commonplace.

Great race in Mexico. Again, RB and their flawless strategy. Mercedes showing signs of life at the end of the season. Still 15 seconds behind, but that's what happens when you choose the H tire and hope that a driver, and a team, that have been perfect the whole season, slip.

One side note, my family came to visit while I was watching the race, and my sister was in complete awe when she saw the top speed of 200mph and then the speed of some turns, she was genuinely intrigued on how does someone withstand so much. Plus how the high elevation affects the drivers and the endurance of doing it for 71 laps. Rules and regs, strategy, etc. She's now hooked. Proud brother moment. My dad on the other hand had his mind blown by how fast some pit stops were. I think the fastest was like 1.98 from McLaren.

Agree, this was my take of the race as well.

Was good to see RIC get some decent pace near the end and named DOD.
Tire strategies seem to play a role in the early reversals of a few such as Bottas which I was hoping would finish in a higher position.
Ham had a good race and was making sure MAX did not have an easy win.
What happened to the Ferrari between a great early practice showing and qualifying?

If Alonso didn't have bad luck, he'd have no luck at all this season.

You can only use the bad luck thing/excuse once a month...

Just a parade.

Actually DR moved some places and scored good points dispitre launching Tsunoda and getting a 10sec penalty.
