Signs of sepsis are tachycardia, shortness of breath, fever greater than 101 and hypotension, and any signs of shock like being altered, cool, pale and diaphoretic. Sounds like everyone just has mild symptoms, so just stay home.

And your a doctor, ahhhhh riggghtttt

No, its time to shut up now, the persons doctor should make the call, not some dude on a forum claiming to know it all

Your second paragraph was a good point.

Your third makes no sense. It sounds to me what you are trying to say is "I don't like certain parts of the discussion so I want to shut down the forum in which the discussion is taking place."

Meanwhile, the US Vaccinations have officially begun with the first reported inoculation in NY.

I felt like I was watching one of those youtube reaction videos with Cuomo. Such an awkward thing to mass publish... Even had a backdrop.

It is you’re not your.

It is literally part of my job to tell people where testing sites are and what criteria we often use to determine whether coming into the ER is recommended. While we can’t officially turn anyone away, our triage nurses are typically giving people a sheet for testing sites if all people want is a test, and they have no concerning complaints. Obviously anyone is advised to come into the ER if they want or go get tested if they want, but the CDC and county public health officers are often saying the same thing. Testing has been advised and not advised depending on the current policy. There really is no need to get tested outside of contact tracing and getting cleared to return to work, but if anyone in the household is symptomatic then people need to quarantine.

Often times doctors don’t make these calls. There are standing orders and protocols for a reason.

Call your doctor’s office and tell the receptionist that you want to set up an appointment to see the doctor. Tell the receptionist you just had a syncopal episode after doing some yard work and woke up cool, pale and diaphoretic. Tell them you have chest pain like an elephant is sitting on your chest. Guaranteed the receptionist will deny making an appointment. The receptionist will not get the doctor for the doctor’s opinion. They will advise calling 911 immediately. The doctors don’t have the time to field every obvious scenario. This is the receptionists job. They consult the doctor when necessary.

I filled out my work questionnaire last week for the vaccine. It essentially asked me to verify my roll, assess my risk, which is high, and state if I want the vaccine or not, which I said yes. Work emails this morning say Monday December 21st is when the vaccine will begin to be administered in Northern California. Apparently I’ll receive a SMS if I am eligible to set up an appointment.

My concern is that we will get the vaccine and then our staff will become mildly symptomatic and then we will need to stay home and be tested. This may not matter much since they also plan to start weekly testing, but there may be staffing shortages.

We had a briefing on it here last week, but there hasn't been an indication yet when we would have vaccines. My son, who is a front line caregiver, will be eligible right away. My wife, who is an Occupational Therapist in the school system, will probably get it before I do.

Lots of virtual visit options for covid-19 stuff. Maybe not your php, but still a credentialed individual who can give you medical advice.

Yes, someone can call a nurse advice line or whatever. I was just repeating the general algorithm, which is to stay home and quarantine unless symptoms become concerning, and I was listing the typical concerning symptoms. Having COVID symptoms does NOT require a visit to a healthcare professional, contrary to what many people still think. Getting tested via a virtual appointment then going to a drive through testing site is advisable in many areas for contact tracing, but it is not necessary. For clarification, no where is it advised to go to the ER for testing. People are also advised to avoid public areas if symptomatic or when exposed and under quarantine, except for emergencies. We actually have people waiting outside or in their car if they are COVID positive or suspected while they are waiting for an ER bed. Although, they will be moving to cohort these people in a corner in the ER waiting room, to the protest of our staff.

I am not giving medical advice. I am repeating the CDC guidelines or my local guidelines or talking in generalities as a licensed healthcare worker working under physician protocols.

DANG, there, @IceFyre13th, I feel that was a bit harsh.

Ol, @Irace86.2.0 was just expressing his opinion.

He is a bit more that "just some dude on the forum". He has provided interesting insight, usually documented, on this COVID situation.

Here is my prescription for you ...........

It's role, not roll.
