Random Thoughts - Part Deux [NO POLITICS]

We all got cars as soon as we could drive. My parents made us a deal the advantage of which was only taken by me. Basically, if they buy the car, you pay for insurance, if you buy the car, they pay for insurance. My parents bought my sister a Geo Tracker, which died. They bought my older brother a 240sx that was in amazing condition (and an auto) for $2000, which was the most expensive car any of us received. My dad sold his boat to buy it (actually we had some serious bills to pay, which he paid with the boat proceeds, he had enough left over to buy my brother's car). My brother wrecked the car.


My first car was a Nissan Sentra two-door that had black paint that was also white and grey because it was peeling and oxidizing. The trunk leaked and it grew mold, so it smelled like a lake. When we bought it off my dad's friend for $500, it didn't have a muffler. I actually had to give my mom my first paycheck, from my first job in the parking lot so she could go pay for the car. I think the check was like $250.


Even though I only paid for half the car, my parents agreed to pay my insurance. And they continued to do so when I bought an Alero (which I wrecked) and when I bought my 626. They paid insurance on the 626 until half way through college when I started paying it.


My little brother has received my dad's hand-me-down 2009 corolla with 150k~ miles.

Admittedly, there are people where $30,000 is the same ratio of their net worth as $3,000 is to me. If I were in that position, would I pay $30,000 for my kid's car? Maybe.

Also, I admit that my kids have all driven my car to school/work at some point, that is a different consideration than buying it for them.

It was my father's back in 2002 I believe and he recently got a newer car so I was given that one. I live in a pretty well to do area with a good school district so the parking lot at high school was always filled with a lot of ~5 year old audis, bmws, and cadillacs after mommy and daddy moved to the new model. One of the kids always drove his dad's Cadillac XLR on Friday's so you knew every Friday you were gonna hear him revving the crap out of it in the parking lot. During one of their rev sessions, one of his buddies crashed their audi into someone else's parked car while he was trying to do burnouts about a week before we graduated.

I'm not complaining as my sister and I were always allowed to use our parent's 2002 Ford Escape (V6 with more HP than the stock FRS :P) we just had to pay for gas but I definitely live in a more money than sense area....

They don't. They pull things into a singularity, in which we have no idea what happens to it. Its an infinitely dense mass, in other words all the "matter" or whatever it is is compressed to the point that there is no space between "particles" or whatever they have become at that point.
