How could Toyota be at >6000 sold YTD and Subaru only at 1663 sold YTD?
Simple, that is the agreement between TOY/SUB on how many will be built. In the US there are two Toyota dealerships for every Subaru one so it makes sense.

Completely anecdotal evidence but I've been driving my brz since early March and I still have not seen another on the road in my area. I've seen about 10 GR86s.

So far, I have seen two BRZs and 1 GR86 on the road since release...these cars still seem fairly scarce.

I saw a silver BRZ in Breckenridge today (which is the color I would have gotten) and it confirmed my decision to wait for a white 86.

I didn't give it much thought until yesterday's visit to my local Toyota Dealer to inquire about a GR86. I finance even when I can buy it outright (don't tie up your money in one place). 6.9% APR! In 2016 I was looking at ordering a WRX. That's when I learned about Heuberger Subaru (the highest volume Subaru dealer in the US) https://www.bestbuysubaru.com/dealership/about.htm#. At the time they were selling the WRX $3k under MSRP, making it cheap enough to fly out there one-way, pick up the car and drive it home. Granted they're not selling under MSRP in this market, they only had like a 4.1% APR for the BRZ. Even with the marginal extra couple $100 between the two models, that APR silently adds up.

I personally like the look of the GR86 front-end better than the BRZ's, but I forgot that buying from a high-volume dealer was a possible option.

Woof, that's scary. That's my only real urgency to get this thing at this point - get it before rates go up. Looks like I'm too late.

The last I checked with my bank I could get in the 3's for a 36, which was still brutal. A quick check, looks like they're in the 4's now. F.

I passed on a car @ $2000 ADM in February. Buying that at the sub 3% rate I would have got through my bank would have been cheaper in the end than getting it today @msRP

Received word from my dealer the other day that my '23 PMT Neptune GR86 is due to arrive at port on July 25th. Hoping to have it soon after. Then it is straight to the track.

The Toyota USA site is now showing the 2023 GR86. PMT is $200 more than 2022.

I gave up and spent half the car money on other stuff. Hard to keep interest for 2 years on something I don't know if I'll ever get. I haven't told my dealer so I'll still get notified if my allotment ever comes up. Maybe I'll save up another $14k before then, maybe not.

On a local MSRP dealer list for a either blue premium mt. They estimated 6ish months. They are averaging 1/mo and I am number 6 on their list.

I'm on a list with the largest Toyota dealer in the Denver area. Ordered in Nov and there was one guy ahead on the list. He got his car in July. This just seems weird. I understand covid supply problems but I'd expect them to be able to build more of these. Maybe the distribution algorithm is just set against the Denver area. Whatever, my new Scott Spark Ultimate is great fun and looks awesome, as a $14k MTB should.

My local dealer had 1 person in line but required a 5k deposit and 4k over MSRP

Supra was 9k over MSRP although they might be "open" to going a little less.
