It's kind of odd, but my favourite thing about Initial D is the peaceful setting of the night time Japanese mountains.

They have a great atmosphere.

On the Initial-D front they are rebooting the original series into a movie trilogy with the first one now already out.

Off topic I know but here is a nice little fan trailer for my current favourite Aldnoah Zero (crank your volume for it). Season two of the show just started too!

Watched the initial D legend 1 already, pretty good

Actually, I'm pretty tired of all the Initial D rehashes.

A new Initial D!.... actually its the same story but new!

It's good for someone who don't want to watch the whole series.

They are forever 25 in my book, you can't be too old if you're on a frs forum.

Humfrz aren't you in the same class as them?

Initial D is so amazing because you can actually relate to it. The realism factor in the show is just top notch and that is what they were going for. Hence why Tsuchiya was on the editorial staff making sure that the writers were accurate. God I love that show.. I want to live in that world
Nothing like Speed Racer other than it has race cars in it...Speed Racer wishes it were Redline... LOL.

Redline is a masterpiece of anime - a racing story that is not really about racing, more of a love story and different universe happenings that takes place under a crazy race... more deathrace/madmax than speedracer. It was totally done for sheer visual entertainment and to poke a little fun at the anime industry. All hand drawn with the smoothest animation you have ever seen - 7 years to produce. Blu-Ray quality is phenominal, both in visual and audio. Takeshi Koike is the guy behind Redline...and there is none like him. Some of his other animation work to give you an idea of his style (Redline is more subdued than this stuff):

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZawV-eaEIdA"]Anime 3 Takeshi Koike .mp4 - YouTube[/ame]

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8Zpgt5S1sc"]Trava Fist Planet Episode 2 Preview - YouTube[/ame]

If you want most realism with racing anime, then Capeta is the top dog... it's about kart/formula racing.

Speed Master was also pretty entertaining. The story itself was fine. Silent/mute drifter or homeless man gets roped into a confritation between a nearly out-of-business garage and some mafia thugs that is settled in a race. The racing was pretty f-ing bad (CG that makes F&F look god teir) and over the top personalities of the bad guys. regardless, a very few well cuts showing the FC3S (hero car) were excellent!

The movie can be found here.

or here in parts https://www.youtube.com/user/any4sia/videos

Or just watch the good clips.

Not really the first move only covered the first race in the anime series. 3 movies and one down. Might be a good way to recap the first season but, not the series.

If we talking about movie here, you have to watch the initial D live action movie, even though it's "made in China"

Another fun automotive anime romp, and almost as fun as initial D, is the short 6 episode OVA series Ex-Driver. Driverless AI controlled cars are the norm in the near future and a special team who helps out when they go bezerk/out of control using their pre-AI manual driven cars... Lotus Europa, Caterham 7, Lancia Stratos. Audio is better than than Initial D...such beautiful recreation of the sounds! Plus sexy Rei Kazama and her Ducati 900SS!

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrQJi0AloqA"]Super Sonic Speed AMV - YouTube[/ame]

And then you have the short 3 episode OVA Gunsmith Cats with its epic car chase scene...oh yeah!

Well, I think you're pretty damn cool and hope to meet you someday. Puyallup's only a few hours from Vancouver.
