With the 660's, I did 32/30 initially and ran the large part of last year thinking that was ideal. With any new tire, I do the standard chalk or look at wear in the fronts, get it to the triangles, then adjust the rear to suit it. Had a few people think I was nuts running them that low when I mentioned it. Tried 37/35. Instantly had more grip and everything just felt better. Times slightly improved, but definitely did. Same tire size, wheel size, class, etc. I've since switched to A052's again as I didn't like the way the 660's heat cycled over the year, but I'd definitely recommend higher at about 37/35 with those. It made a noticeable difference for me.

We went to a new site this past weekend right in Raleigh, 15 minute drive from me, and where the Hurricanes and NC State teams play. Brought in almost 150 people to the event when normally 100 is a good turnout. Took home top Pax, and 2nd raw to an AMod FSAE car brought by the NC State motorsports club.

First event in the STX car. It did well, didn't do anything weird and think I was 3rd of 90ish. A well driven kart and Camaro are hard to compete with on a power favored course.
This site is unlike any others with the banking and speeds, so I'm still unsure of the balance. It was understeery on the banking and a little tail happy on the flatter parts, but I was in 3rd the entire time, so can't really come away with any real thoughts until I drive a more normal site. But the car didn't break, so a good shakedown in my books

2nd time out with my 23. 1st time with my stx setup from my 2016, coilovers, wheels/tires and front swaybar.
Looking at the video now I think I should have stayed wider on the last left hander to get back on the gas quicker. The extra power from the fa24 is a welcome change. |
