It really is a bummer, I had a lot of respect for what he had done with the oil mods and his K swap. I think it is a good reminder that when you don't agree with someone to separate that ideology from the person, make your points and just move on. No point in getting bitter in what amounts to nothing in regards to your day to day.

He was repeatedly censored in another political thread on this forum, so decided to censure all of his threads/posts on the entire forum.

At the end of the day its his information to share or not share as he pleases, he doesn't owe anyone anything. It sucks, but it is what it is. You are no worse off now then if he never posted to begin with.

I think “censor” is a pretty strong word in this situation. By logging into and posting on the forums you are agreeing to their terms. Don’t like it don’t post. It’s no different then when I go to my menonite cousins house, when I walk through that door I am agreeing to behave a certain way. We do this all the time every day.

Censor: to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable

Seems appropriate enough in this situation.

And i think his displeasure in being censored was part in due that he was on a sub off topic thread where equally as questionable things where not censored, primarily in the opposition. Sometimes the “terms” aren’t applied evenly.

And
“Don’t like it don’t post”
Is pretty much what he’s doing now by deleting/censoring his posts.
I’m sure he didn’t expect things to end up this way when he joined the forum and started posting. Now that they have he left.

Now my interest spiked. What was that another political thread mentioned of? After all, if technical posts get removed and there is way less practical meaning for this thread, maybe some offtopic entertainment can compensate?

In the context of the situation he(and others) were breaking forums rules. I guess I just don't see that so much as censorship but a rule being implemented. Kind of how I don't see a little kid yelling "fuck" in school and being punished censorship.

I didn't see it in the end, if you say the rules were not being applied evenly that is a shame. The fact still remains that he was breaking a rule. Complaining others were not censored too is like telling a cop you were speeding because others do too and getting mad when you still get a ticket. The thread was still shut down, like all the other covid threads, so I don't think that is the ideological sword to fall on. It was all pretty moot.

I will miss reading his forum contributions. They were interesting and practical.

Regardless he didn’t like the rules or at least the way it was being applied so he took his toys and went home.

Thought a new one popped up vacci-nation to essentially continue it.

Yeah he had a lot of good contributions, not just the same information regurgitation over and over like 90% of the forum.

Me too, hope he comes back. His K swap is just genius.

It sucks that he has punished the other forum users for what the mods did. I am 99% sure not one mod gives a fuck about him changing his posts to "censored"
