Get better soon, Haru.
He has his influenza vaccine too. Not sure. Still waiting on the results of testing the samples they got to see what caused it.

Maybe it was just still a little early. It's tough because some places say 16 or so weeks is fine to start going outside in mostly clean/controlled areas (like the grass at my complex for housetraining) as long as all shots have been done, but then some people say to wait till 18 weeks. He's 17 weeks as of this past Wednesday (and had gotten his last round of shots early the previous week) and I was bringing him out at that point and asking people with dogs in my complex if theirs were vaccinated before allowing any playtime. So I dunno. Maybe my fault for getting careless.

The doctor used a different term. Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex, I believe.

Nah he never vomited. It was basically sneezing attacks of 7-10 sneezes since about Tuesday and some were so violent it was like he was blowing his brains out. Yesterday morning I brought him to a vet for a checkup and they confirmed there was inflammation causing a cough. They recommended the extensive testing but also told me I could wait a few days and see if it resolved on its own. But then pretty much as soon as we got home he was suddenly way more sullen and sleepy than usual and aside from breakfast refused food and only drank once in a span of about 6 hours. He also had some moments where he seemed to be choking or something. (I didn't realize that sound was the "cough" from kennel cough). So the clinic place let me bring him back and do the testing.

Edit: Honestly.. the one thing I'm slightly worried about is if the actual vet he was getting his shots at administered them right. Because they hated working with him since he would get so scared/wild. Makes me wonder if they ever messed up one of the injections and didn't fully administer a vaccine. But that might just be me overworrying.

Perdita is in the house! She is a 4 year old rescue cat who has had a litter. Her kittens were all adopted out and she is about to start a new life in our home. I love the Mexican wrestling mask/cat girl mask look.

She will be living in a bedroom with everything she needs and the door closed for at least a week until she is ready to ease into meeting Oreo.
So far she hasn't come out from under the bed and hasn't touched her food. This is going to take patience but I am sure it will pay off.

A reasonable concern depending on how it was given, intranasal or injectable. If he was squirming around, some of an intranasal shot may have wound up on the exam table.

Refusing food and water is a serious issue. It doesn't take long for them to become dehydrated. A vet will then usually inject subcutaneous saline and Vitamin B shots to get him balanced out again.

Again, sorry for your troubles.

I think they were all injectable (at least the last few 2 weeks ago were, since I was there I was able to see them).

Yeah. I could've waited it out another day to see if he just wasn't in the mood; occasionally he will wait to eat breakfast until later in the morning than usual or will not drink water unless he feels like it. But it just felt a bit more unusual than that.

That's basically what we have, except we have three of the cupholder sections and one additional chair. By the way, I don't recommend the electric controls on these. It's relatively slow, and doesn't work when the power is out! If I had to do it again I'd save the money.

Perdita has been here a week now. She likes to venture out of her safe room when the door is opened but unfortunately Oreo is hissy and chases her back under the bed in her room. Eventually they will realize she is almost twice his size and he will get out of her way. Aside from that she is a sweet affectionate girl who probably survived outdoors for a few years using her charm. For sure someone was feeding her, she's huge!

We've had another eventful couple weeks. Haru definitely had canine coronavirus (funnily enough, mostly unrelated to the COVID that has gotten threads closed here ) AKA kennel cough and bortedella (sp.?). He's recovered a lot more this week (last week he was on antibiotics).

And then yesterday he shoved his face into a hole in the grass and got stung by a bee/wasp near the whisker area on the right side of his face. Fortunately he didn't have a bad reaction, though I considered taking him in for an emergency vet check. But ended up not doing it because he pretty promptly fell asleep once we got back in my apartment, lol.

We also found a kind of private beach volleyball court near my apartment and now Haru _loves_ going there and will literally pull me the whole way.

Though the last time we went inside, somebody from the parking lot yelled toward us "no dogs allowed in the court!!"

Jokes on them, it's still open at night and nobody is there!! we'll be back!! plus I clean up after Haru every time, so if he does anything dirty there I'll clean it up, not leave it.
