Hmmm, I have it in my head that Gin and Tonic are just for old people. I've always seen most older people order it, but they can be pretty good.

I agree completely. I love me some scotch. However, whiskey neat stretches the definition of "mixed drink" somewhat.

A drink I make called a Long Story is a popular one among my friends.

1 part Honey Whiskey (Honey Jack or Honey Bushmills work well)
1 part Tuaca
1 part Triple Sec
3 parts Ginger Ale
Tiny splash of Grenadine, topped with a cherry.
Served over ice, lightly stirred.

It's smooth, sweet, and strong.

Gin and tonic made with Hendrick's is my go-to. When I make them at home I put a dash of lavender bitters in the glass and roll it around first. A bar near me makes a mean elder old fashioned, so I get one of those when I'm there as well.

I actually order my drinks like this because all too often the bar tender wants to add bull shit like ice or, lemons and limes. I don't have scurvy, I don't need the damn lemon.
