Zele Fender flare install

Can’t find any info on these but I have a set and am curious to know whether you’re expected to use anything specific to attach it besides just 3M tape.

They’re not heavy pieces but they’re not light enough where I would have no concern about them flying off over time (made of fibreglass). Doesn’t have any tabs to fit inside the fender liner like the TRD flares.

If 3M is fine is there a particular type of 3M that I should use (that won’t damage the paint down the line if I ever remove them)

Don’t know what 3M/ adhesive is used for the OEM spoiler but that left marks in my boot that couldn’t be polished out

I've had my Zele flares on my car since 2018 using the supplied 3M that came with them. Been on expressways constantly, and local track day. They haven't budged one bit.

i only use the genuine 3M tape bought at local hardware stores. have had nothing but issues from the knockoff ebay/amazon "3E, 3m, 3W, WE, 3, and M" variants...

the genuine stuff has been holding on my ducktail spoiler since 2015.

Just wondering if there was a particular 3M to use.

I’m not 100% whether I will always want the flares on my car. An issue I had when removing my stock wing was whatever factory 3M/ adhesive had been used, damaged the clear coat underneath when the wing came off, no amount of polishing could fix it.

Hoping someone can vouch for a specific 3M tape that’s durable but not too strong that it’ll damage the paint on my fenders if I ever tried to remove it

my experience is that this '3m extreme' is identical to the '3m super strength molding tape' which is 3m's automotive-specific foam-backed double sided tape.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-1-2-i...3609/309730702

the only difference is that the 'molding tape' variant comes in various different widths. but both have the same texture, feel, smell, and adhesion strength.

my last vehicle, i did a full clay-bar/polish/wax on before applying a number of badges all over it using the 3m extreme variant. when i unexpectedly sold the truck 3 years later, everything pulled off with no damage to the paint, and not a ton of effort overall.
